| I would like to have children one day. | |
| The Lord brought me to Himself following my sophomore year in college. Since then, I have sought earnestly and purposefully though not perfectly to walk in the newness of Christ's life. | |
| I was introduced to Reformed writers and teachers from the beginning of my interest in Christ. However, my understanding of the doctrines of grace grew particularly when I finished college and attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida. Here, my views moved rapidly from a more broadly evangelical perspective to one that is Reformed both in worship and practice. The doctrines of grace glorify the excellency of God's sovereignty over all of life and thus provide me delight in God Himself. His sovereignty also provides comfort and true assurance of salvation which is wholly of the Lord alone. His sovereignty also gives purpose and meaning in the mundane, joy in the certainty of Christ's missionary advancement into all the nations, and many other benefits. | |
| Private, family, and corporate worship are of great importance to me. I enjoy singing from the Trinity Psalter and reading the Scriptures with the Robert Murray McCheyne Bible-in-a-year daily calendar. Last year I read through the works of Jonathan Edwards and memorized (at least temporarily) the whole Shorter Catechism. I truly would love to have a helpmate who delights in godliness, piety, and the worship of God in the home as well as in the church. One of aspect of marriage that appeals to me is the prospect of having one with whom I might pray, sing and fellowship. Should God give us children, I also would love to have regular family worship with singing, Bible instruction, and prayer. | |
| I like those men who have that combination of heroic greatness and leadership abilities even with their personal weaknesses. Moses, David, Ezra, Nehemiah, Peter, Paul. These men did great things for the Lord. May God help me to do great things for Him too by His grace. | |
| As with all of God's law, I find myself daily breaking His command to be content in all things; however, by God's grace I have learned something of the secret of contentment. I have learned that suffering is an integral part of our union with Christ by which we also experience the power of His resurrection. During my years of singleness, I have traveled back and forth and back again along the spectrum of responses from sinful murmuring and inordinate prayer about the matter to psalm-like sighs of lament to gratitude for God's sovereign Providence and wisdom in keeping in my current state. I want to serve Christ foremost and thus ultimately desire that state which will enable me to be faithful, yet, still I find myself interested in the prospect of marriage with the hopes, God willing, of having a godly seed of covenant children to extend the Name and glory of Christ around the world. | |
| Having sampled the opinions of three women all of different ages and stations (two married and one in college) from our church here are their picks: Friend #1: Thoughtful; Pastoral; Funny; Kind; Diligent; Joyful. Friend #2: Intelligent/scholarly; Compassionate; Witty; Sensitive. Friend #3: Light-hearted; Thoughtful; Consistent; Kind. | |
| The Church, Christian education/homeschooling, history, the Puritans, politics, and cultural issues. | |
| I am grateful to God for His mercy in my life, for calling me into His service, and granting me a loving church home. | |
| I am looking for a great and godly woman, who can help me (and I do need help) serve the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully as a minister of the Gospel and do great things for His Name's sake. I am hoping for a young woman who is sweet, kind, charitable, loves people, loves the Lord, and desires to serve in the context of Christ's Church. Earnestness for Christ, humility, sensitivity to others, good inter-personal skills, and an honoring spirit to her parents before marriage and future husband after marriage are noble and needed traits as well. I would like to have children too as the Lord provides. | |
| Dr. Larry Mininger (Pastor -- Lake Sherwood OPC, Orlando Florida). Pastor Mininger is a father in the faith to me. He was my pastor while I attended seminary and has been an invaluable help to me personally and ministerially. We keep in touch regularly, even weekly at times. I have appreciated his wisdom, his well-rounded Christian family, and his pastoral balance. Professors: R.C. Sproul, Sinclair Ferguson, Richard Pratt. There were other teachers as well, but these men stand out for me. Dr. Sproul was one of the first Christian teachers I heard on tape. I admire his gifts and his influence on the Reformed faith in America. There were times I left Dr. Sproul's Systematic Theology classes and went immediately into my room at home to pray. Such was the influence of his teaching. As for Dr. Ferguson, no professor ever made such an impact on my life in so little time. I admire his godliness, humility, and his love for the Puritans. His prayers were lessons in godliness and piety all by themselves. I felt at times a sense of the holiness of Christ just being around him. I also must mention Dr. Richard Pratt who gave me a love for the Old Testament. I love to teach and preach in the Old Testament to this day. I love to see the redemptive work of God in the OT and love to see the fulfillment of these passages in the life and person of Jesus Christ. Historical Figures: The Puritans and their theological descendants. I came to love these godly believers through their writings as well as J.I. Packer's book, A Quest for Godliness. I never had heard preaching and teaching like they conveyed when I first discovered them. Their works opened a whole new world to me. I loved their meatiness and yet was convicted deeply of my sin by them. | |
| "Son, you know what day it is"? (Yes, sir). "The Lord's Day is not a day for playing football now is it?" -- Eric Little to a young boy in Chariots of Fire. Favorite psalms to sing from the Trinity Psalter: Psalms 5, 11, 22, 66, 67, 95, 98, 100, 113, 117, 128, 133, 146, and probably others that I am forgetting. Hymns:"A Mighty Fortress"; "Arise My Soul Arise"; Psalm 30 (Trinity Hymnal); all sorts of Christmas hymns (very joyful, triumphant, and often filled with good optimistic eschatalogical outlooks). | |
| I am a Minister of the Gospel in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. See www.covenantlagrange.org. I have been the pastor at Covenant since completing my MDiv and internship. I do enjoy my calling and hope to remain here if the Lord permits. | |
| I keep a list of goals, which periodically are updated. They can range from the trivial (like improving my chess game) to substantive (improving areas of personal sanctification, and establishing objectives for the church locally, regionally, and beyond). | |
| Since much of my calling is sedentary in nature, I seek to use discretionary time exercising (walking the dog at the nearby lake, running, mowing the lawn, lifting weights). However, I also do enjoy reading as well. I like college football and have season tickets to the local high school games as well. I like to bring some of the kids from the church with me. | |
| Raised in the ATL! Traveled most of the continental U.S., Mexico, England, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, St. Marteen (Netherlands/France), Uganda with stops in Kenya and Tanzania. | |
| My parents and sister live in the Atlanta area. My hope is to remain in LaGrange. | |
| Lots of Church Fellowship Activities. Playing with the kids from church and attending lots of their recitals, plays, soccer games etc. Also, I have played in a men's Lacrosse summer league in ATL. I played lacrosse in college. I also like to play soccer once a week. | |
| Yes, I like bagpipe music, West Highland White Terriers, and lots of other Scottish things. The picture of me was taken in front of our church with a couple of the girls from our congregation. I also am on facebook under 'A. Boyd Miller IV.' |
