| Christ called me when I was a young wife and mother. My Christian walk is steady and strong, and it's exciting to discover daily how much He has in store for us, His children. | |
| The doctrine of Grace gave me a new perspective on every aspect of life. I am able to put Christ in His proper place - above all else and at the center of all things. It changed how I view others and myself. Not a day goes by that I don't marvel at the mercy of our Lord, how He takes our yucky selves and chooses to bless us "anyway." | |
| In the morning I'm working through Deuteronomy and journaling applications as I go. Together, John and I are working through Tozer's book, The Knowledge of the Holy. I go often to the Psalms and favorite New Testament passages. I taught good kings-bad kings Bible curriculum to fourth graders for the last two years, so I've been cracking the books on that. | |
| I can identify with Job...he questioned, persevered, didn't let others deter him, and finally realized the enormity of God and insignificance of "self." | |
| I was content most of the time. I stayed busy, and felt fulfilled, but there were certainly disadvantages. Most activities and groups are largely couples-friendly, and I do think the church in general holds a different view of women who are not married. There are moments of great freedom in being single, yet there are also moments of incredible "alone-ness." It will be great to have John to genuinely share life, goals, hopes, tasks, fun, and celebrations. | |
| I hope they would say I'm compassionate, intelligent, loyal, and adventuresome. | |
| I'm passionate about kids: my own, my thirteen grandchildren, kids at school, Christian Education, unwed moms and their babies, and even the neighbors' kids. I am also passionate about living life to its fullest, not wasting time or opportunities, and creating memories for myself and those I love. | |
| I'm thankful for my family, good physical and mental health, and God's provision in all areas of life. He does not leave us as orphans, but daily ministers to our hearts and our needs. | |
| I appreciate people who are honest, have a sense of humor, are spontaneous, even-tempered, joyful, and willing to work hard to complete a job once begun. I also find it desirable to be around people who are not self-centered. I hope people see those traits in me, too. | |
| As a new Christian, I attended a Bible Study with a wonderful teacher. She taught me so much about who God is, my privileges as a child of God, prayer, and the Christian life. That was a long time ago, but it was also the "beginning" of growth. These days I learn much from my children and their mates, and I am so blessed to have John every day to answer my questions, large or small. I have learned so much in just the last five months. | |
| My husband, who was quite gifted, wanted to be a writer and felt our Christian lifestyle was not compatible with what he needed to do. He left in 1999 to pursue his dream. He explored the lifestyle for a couple years, was diagnosed with stomach/esophageal cancer, and died in November of 2003. We remained friends, and he died with his sweetheart on one side and myself on the other. I learned that, above all, we must guard our hearts and our minds - the enemy can put all sorts of strange ideas into our heads, given the smallest foothold. I've also learned to fix things when they break (both in my life and around the house). | |
| "Though nothing can bring back the splendor in the grass, the glory of the flower, we will grieve not, yet take strength from what remains behind." That's one from secular literature. I love to read Psalms - have favorites for any occasion. I am happy to share those and other scriptures with people as occasions arise in our correspondence. | |
| I was a teacher for nearly thirty years, both in public and Christian school. I loved almost every minute of it. It was because of my children and grandchildren that I left a wonderful group of people in Florida to begin a new job in St. Louis. Granted, the paper work and governmental issues had finally begun to get to me after 23 years in public education, and I was happy to be free of that. I began my "second" career in 2005, teaching fourth grade in a Christian school, and enjoyed it ever so much. Now I'm leaving St. Louis and the "babies" to join John in life and ministry (Glendale, AZ). I am eager to see what further adventures God has for me/us and how he will use me there. | |
| I want to be the best wife/mom/grandma/pastor's wife I can. I hope to continue working with children and their families in whatever way I'm led through church, school, and community avenues. I want to enjoy friends and activities yet to come my way, and I hope to keep a sense of wonder, never stop learning and trying new things; I want to stay active and healthy, and hope to see places I've never been. | |
| We go on "adventures" with family and friends. I like to read. I have made some baby quilts, enjoy designing gifts, and making kids' clothes. I hope we will get to do some fishing and camping. I walk a lot and try to keep in shape so I can keep up with the toddlers in our growing family. | |
| I was born in Ohio and have been in traveled most of the eastern half of the United States. Now that I'm moving west, I will enlarge my list of states that have been visited. I've been to Europe. There are ever so many place I'd love to see. | |
| My family is the fruit of years of joyful service. I have a son in Atlanta who is an attorney. I have a daughter and son-in-law in St . Louis who have two children. I have another daughter and son-in-law who live in northwest Iowa and they have one son, just starting to walk. I am blessed to have added another five children and their families...it is a joy getting to know each of them as individuals. It is a joy to know they all walk with the Lord, My move to St. Louis was a wonderful adventure - everything in my life changed, except for the fact that God is in charge. I can't wait to see what He is going to do as I marry and move to Arizona. | |

| Gosh, no - it was pretty thorough. I'm certainly willing to answer any questions "new friends" might have and encourage any of you who are wondering if this Internet stuff can really work..... |
