I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, talking, thinking, reading, and researching things that I'm interested in. For recreation, I attend museums, bookstores and book sales, libraries, antique shops, and specialty shops (shops with unusual wares), and Scottish country dancing classes and dances. In the winter, I do some ice skating. I have a collection of very old books, old clothes (the 50- 100 year old variety), buttons (some really cool old bone ones), laces, silk, fungi, rocks, and various other things of interest and "necessity".

I grew up in the faith- I can't remember when I was converted. I think that my walk is fairly stable right now, but it would help, I think, if we had a pastor and more members in our mission congregation.

I'm reading through Mathew.

I would dearly love to help build the reformed church here in my home state; I would especially like to meet a man who is willing to help in this mission work that I am a part of right now. I desire a husband who is helping to build the reformed visible church and whose circumstances and desires allow my family to be a part of my life.

I look for love of God and man, in accordance with the Bible, and as described in the Westminster Standards. I think that honesty, integrity, communication, and friendship are the means and foundation of any relationship, especially marriage.

I aspire to all of the above traits.

Both sets of my grandparents, and a pastor that was stated supply here for a year have all had a profound effect on my life. They all helped me grow in knowledge and sanctification, and offered valuable help in various difficulties.

"Article 3

That all persons have a natural and unalienable right, to worship Almighty God, according to the dictates of their own consciences and understandings, as in their opinion shall be regulated by the word of God; and that no person ought to, or of right can be compelled to attend any religious worship, or erect or support any place of worship, or maintain any minister, contrary to the dictates of conscience, nor can any person be justly deprived or abridged of any civil right as a citizen, on account of religious sentiments, or peculia[r] mode of religious worship; and that no authority can, or ought to be vested in, or assumed by, any power whatever, that shall in any case interfere with, or in any manner control the rights of conscience, in the free exercise of religious worship. Nevertheless, every sect or denomination of christians ought to observe the sabbath or Lord's day, and keep up some sort of religious worship, which to them shall seem most agreeable to the revealed will of God."

Emphasis mine; quite an interesting article.

One of my favorite quotes of all, from an excerpt from Thomas Brooks' Epistle Dedicatory in The Mute Christian under the Smarting Rod:

Man is made to be a friend, and apt for friendly offices. He that in not friendly is not worthy to have a friend, and he that hath a friend, and doth not shew himself friendly, is not worthy to be accounted a man. Friendship is a kind of life, without which there is no comfort of a man's life. Christian friendship ties such a knot that great Alexander cannot cut. Summer friends I value not, but winter friends are worth their weight in gold; and who can deny such anything, especially in these days, wherein real, faithful, constant friends are so rare to be found?

Here's another one:
"But...[the Yankee's] greatest talent is the gift o' gab. Give him a chance t' talk it over with his enemy an' he'll lick 'im without a fight. An' when his enemy is another Yankee—why, they both git licked...If we did not encourage this talent in our sons they would be talked to death by our daughters." from Eben Holden, by Irving Bacheller

-I love collecting plants; some day I want a solarium where I can collect all kinds of plants and grow them. Why? Well, I think perhaps I'm an ethnobotanist at heart.

I wish that people knew that, when I say something, I am doing my best to be honest, circumspect, and sincere; and that I take what others say seriously, and think about it. I try to actively avoid manipulation and mind and word games.

I really like good conversation; it's an activity for me.

I hold to the exclusive Psalmody position, the understanding that there are no holy days, the keeping of the Sabbath, and a true table for the Lord's supper, with one cup (wine). I fully subscribe to the original (1640) Westminster Standards, including the directory for public and private worship. However, I do not hold that the Solemn League and Covenant is a term of communion. I do not hold to the Auburn Avenue, Federal Vision, or New Perspective on Paul teachings

Feedback from BorageAndStrawberries: Hi Eugene,

I don't really have a favorite Psalm. Do you have a favorite?
