i was 19 when God revealed Himself to me and I gladly traded my own will for His will for my life. i've had normal ups and downs in my spiritual life but have not desired a life without Christ since day one. i walk with and seek Christ but prefer to not emerse myself in the mainstream "christian culture". i believe in being in the world but not being of the world and enjoy engaging with the current culture and people in it.
without grace, where would i be? grace is everything. grace is what makes it all make sense.
i have regular prayer time and my study topic(s) varies. i may read Table Talk, a daily devotional, go through a book, or go over sermon/sunday school notes. i'm not currently in a small group but am an advocate for them. i've found them to be really beneficial in my spiritual growth.
joseph (in geneis). what an example of someone who remained faithful to God despite his immediate circumstances. and, what a neat picture of how God's hand is on someone's life from the very beginning working all things together for His purposes. that gives me assurance of his sovereignty amidst difficult or confusing circumstances.
i desire to "do life" with someone and hope that it's someone that i'm married to.
sense of humor -don't take myself (or anyone else) too seriously creative - artistically, musically detail oriented - i balance my checkbook to the penny! adventuresome - get me off the beaten path
traveling to new places, meeting and getting to know new people, creativity! (music, art, crafts, etc...)
creativity nature (i love being outside) God's grace
humor - i appreciate someone who can see the humor in everyday life and laugh at themselves, others and life. integrity - someone you can count on to do the right thing. communicator - someone who's not not afraid to communicate and is willing to work at it (cause it's hard).
(I assume we're referring to someone other than Jesus) my friends from college. i came to know Christ through those friendships and grew as a Christian with them. there are 7 of us and we still keep in touch. we usually see each other about once a year even though we live in 6 different states. it's really cool to see God's faithfulness and grace in each of our lives.
it has been about 5 years since i've been in a serious relationship. that one ended because he couldn't let go of his ex-wife and the possibility that they may reconcile one day and i couldn't continue to date him knowing that. other relationships haven't developed because we had differing core values/priorities.
"doh!" -- homer simpson "i'd rather have 20 minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing." -- from the movie steel magnolas
i do data analysis and computer security stuff for the federal govt. i've been doing this for 6 years and eagerly anticpate doing something different in the future. i studied art in college and would love to be in a more creative job. meanwhile, i try to enjoy where God has me.
visit all 7 continents (2 left) write a book (i have some ideas) record a CD (already did that) find a vocation that is rewarding to me to not be self sufficient -- to live in community
dinner/conversation with friends, playing guitar, playing music with other people, riding my bike, doing stuff at church (small group, volunteer work, whatever), photography, anything on the water (canoing, sailing, etc...), reading, traveling (near and far) to new places and exploring.
born in washington d.c., raised in alabama, went to college in alabama, lived in korea in my early 30s, and now live in the washington d.c. area. i've traveled to 5 of the 7 continents, all over the US, and just put a deposit on a trip to antarctica. i love to experience new places.
my family lives in alabama and tennessee. 2 older brothers and lots of step brothers and step sisters. my parents are divorced and both are remarried. relocating sounds adventuresome to me.... i would be pleased to move away from the city life to a smaller city or college town or even overseas.
i write songs, sing and play guitar. i enjoy photography and love to travel!
my favorite bbq is at johnny ray's bbq in birmingham, alabama. my favorite thing to do on saturday morning is go to the nearby bakery, eat some sort of pastry, drink coffee, people watch and read leisurely. i'm an introvert, but can still get in front of a crowd to sing, play guitar, talk, entertain, whatever. i just have to have more "me time" after i do those things. i like to have a good balance of alone time and social time.
