| I was raised in the faith by my wonderful, God-fearing mother. I'm on fire for the Word, I spend as much time as I can reading it, listening to it, contemplating it and praying about it (between and during work and school) - Faith comes by hearing, and I pray for the constant increase of my own through the privileged hearing of His word, in church and in devotions. | |
| It is incomprehensible to me that God should be so merciful to have chosen me and so *JUST* to have provided for a fair way to do so. When David sings about how beautiful he finds the statutes of God, what a pleasure they are to him, I relate with that ... God is so caring, so loving ... we're here to glorify Him, but in all that He has commanded we do, He is protecting us. The sanitary reasons behind OT laws, the quality of life provided through the 10 commandments. What pagan gods of old ever provided peace, love and happiness to their people, sacrificed for their stupidity (instead of the other way around) and saved them despite their own lost nature? Everything about God is so unique, so logical, so perfectly 100% fitting in the context of time and reality ... how could we even question His grace? How could we ever think we have lived up to Him on owr own, or "deserve" something from Him? | |
| I try to make time every day to stop myself and remind myself who I need to be living for. I have the general daily Bible reading, I also like to wedge in some good theologically sound books when I have a chance. I really want to be off the "milk" and on the real "meat" of the Word ... I'm teaching the paths of the two kingdoms of Israel and their prophets in the 2nd-6th grade Sunday School class, so there is a lot of interesting information there as well. | |
| I think it's John ... you don't get to know him intimately, like some of the OT characters (Job, Esther, so on) but you read his Gospel and see how much he loved Christ, how much he stresses that Christ is the very son of God, come to us in love. And Jesus loved John ... he even gave the care of his mother into John's hands. How close must they have been, this diciple "whom Jesus loved"? It makes me all tingly ... like knowing that a man, a sinful man (David) could be "after God's own heart." God is so close to us! | |
| Hrm - well, yes and no. As the hymn goes, "whatever my state ... it is well, it is well with my soul." But the truth is, Paul said "it is better to marry than burn" ... so, I think I need to get married some day (I'm not meaning that in a gross & wanton way, just in the natural human course of ... well, y'all know). :) | |
| That is hard to say ... I don't ask people what they think about me, and they don't exactly offer "atta boy" sentiment lists ... Maybe "funny", hopefully "smart," unfortunately, "stubborn" and possibly "bookworm." I'm a Myers-Briggs INTP ("Nutty Professor" - generally acceptable in men, but frowned upon in women) - does that help? heh | |
| God, family, home, politics, history and the furthering of Earthly and Godly knowledge. Also, adventure. I want to touch pyramids that were ancient when Christ walked the earth, walk through the city of His birth on a Christmas Eve and spend a few weeks in the Congo Swamps trying to catch a glimpse of Mokele-Mbembe, the "last living dinosaur." I want to go to Axum, Ethiopia and see the church where they say the Ark is ... I want to see the ancient ruins in Scotland & Ireland ... I want to touch the Great Wall and imagine the lives it has buried. How am I ever going to fit this in one lifetime? Hopefully they are still there in Heaven. Alexandria's Libraries ... the Hanging Gardens ... THE TEMPLE OF GOD! - can you imagine it? | |
| My God, my family and my wonderful church. Oh, I like politics too ... its the best way to start an argument. I mean conversation ... no, wait ... I DO mean argument. I had a bumper sticker - it says, "I think, therefore I vote Republican" - I'm not really a maniacal egotist, I'm just funny. Or I think I am. | |
| Well, great honesty and integrity, intelligence, wisdom, confidence, leadership, a deep understanding and never-ending thirst of and for the Word of God, humor, wise conversational reticence and a respect for honor and one's word. | |
| Obviously, Jesus - but since He ranks first in any Christian's life as a role-model I'll give you another cookie. My mother. We argue all the time, and we are probably the two most totally opposite personalities there are; but if I could be as selfless, as unconditionally loving and as trusting and generous as her - I would. | |
| Well, I have only had two real "relationships" and by the time the first one proposed I realized that even though we had met in a church, we were very unequally yoked. The second one was probably a poor choice the entire time and I knew it ... so I finally ended it before I could make a really bad long term decision. | |
| "Mommy wow, I'm a big boy now!" "I'll be back" "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound!" "A house divided against itself cannot stand ... It will become all one thing, or all the other." - Abe Lincoln "Don’t be so humble - you are not that great." - Golda Meir "Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are good is like expecting the bull not to charge because you are a vegetarian." - Dennis Wholey | |
| I work 45 hours a week, pay my own bills/live alone and go to school full time - I'm working on a degree in geophysics because I want to know all I can know about this bill rolling ball of terra-firms God's made so awesomely for us. | |
| I want to touch ancient things and discover new things, I want to see God's creation through the light of wisdom and knowledge He's given me. I want to learn about Him, I want to be a tool in His hands for the kingdom ... the specifics will work themselves out. | |
| I read, I hike the nature trails near my home and I read some more. Sometimes I go to the gym, but I'm better at sitting in the sauna than actually working out. I'm kind of a nerd ... but an outdoor loving nerd. :) | |
| Oxnard, CA - I have only been to Cancun and Costa Rica outside the US. I have lived in Washington State, Oregon, California and Texas - I have probably at least travelled through the entire western half of the US, and I visited Chicago and New York. Woo hoo! | |
| Whatsoever God ordaineth. | |
| Reading (especially world & ancient history, or anything about foreign culture) | |
| I dunno ... my hair isn't naturally red. Oh no! The world will be so shocked! Oh, and if ANYONE actually read this far, I AM a handful ... I'm not the first person to come to mind when the 'meek' 'gentle' and 'quiet' wife many Christian men desire is discussed (although I can be those things in my own way) ... I value humility and obedience and am VERY traditional in my religious beliefs, but I have a VERY colorful personality, oh ... and I'm not sure about the "children" question yet either ... I'm not sure how to phrase it other than I'm "a handful." I'm fun and curious and funny (well, *I* think I'm funny), and I like to joke and debate and learn and evolve as a person ... it's an asset for some people, but puts a lot of the type of men I'd be interested in off ... maybe I intimidate them (I don't mean to!) ;-) Hey, that's why God made chocolate AND vanilla, right? :) |
