I was born and raised in a Christ-loving covenant home. I cannot remember a time when I did not name the name of Jesus with reverence and trust.

I am thankful for my church, which is halfway into its third year in existence. It is good to have a place to call my spiritual home. A great deal of my attention is right now directed to the building up of this fledgling congregation. We are a small group, but united in vision and purpose, and always sharing in joyful fellowship. As Christians, we are called to worship--to offer ourselves as living sacrifices to Him as the holy and royal priesthood of believers. It is good to have a place where I can do that in the way that God has led me to believe is right and Biblical.

Much in every way. Chosen, called, and drawn (not yet quartered). But that's how it is for all believers. Even if they don't realize it.

In general, I study a lot of early church history, and the theology and history of worship. That part of my library has swelled quite a bit in the past few years. I'm sure it will continue to grow.

Currently reading A Geerhardus Vos Anthology, compiled and edited by Danny E. Olinger. Some wonderful insights to be found in here. Certainly whets my appetite for more Vos.

For a real answer, you would have to ask my friends . . . but from what I gather:

Intelligent . . . principled . . . generous . . . loyal. If I were to add a fifth, I'd say stubborn as a mule.

My church, my family, and my computer. (Okay, so that last is sort of a joke).

Honesty, open expressiveness, love for God and for God's people, brightness of spirit, gentleness of heart, an inquisitive mind, and the childlike wonder of discovery.

Generosity and thoughtfulness for others. A spirit that unites people rather than one that divides.

Quickness and sharpness of wit in language, both spoken and written. An understanding of subtext in conversation.

A love for aesthetic beauty found in God's created universe.

A little fire in the veins doesn't hurt either . . . okay, actually, this is a must!

Psalm 144:1
Blessed be the LORD, my rock,
who trains my hands for war,
and my fingers for battle.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

My work is about to become my life, I suppose. A lot of things to do. I will probably not have much time from now on to be on SGS. I can receive your contacts though, so fire away.

Table tennis and workout room activities to keep in shape. Backyard football, watching the Michigan Wolverines during college football season. Choral singing, music comp and orchestration. Some television shows; favorites include/included: Battlestar Galactica, The Vampire Diaries, Nikita, NCIS, Dark Angel, Firefly, and 24.

I was born in Evanston, IL. I like to travel. Been to east coast, west coast, mountains, and to Taiwan (where I lived for a year), Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Many more venues on my list of places to go. Top of the list is probably UK (including Ireland), Europe (both East and West), China, Maine, and Nova Scotia.

I am a 7th generation Christian on my dad's side. The oldest of four brothers.

I have learned that it is not right to shackle Providence by making grand absolute commitments to a present direction or situation, nor to completely rule out possibilities for the future. So for now, I am committed to building the church here. I will, however, go wherever the Lord leads.

But I should say that I rather like living in the boring Midwest. It ensures that anywhere else I travel will hold newness and wonder for me.

I am on some other social networks and use several chat clients, including: Facebook, Skype, Google+, YahooIM, and AIM. If you want to get in touch with me through any of those, let me know.

I have a blog, mostly theology and Biblical studies, but some random thoughts and if you dig a little, some poetry:
