| Until age fourteen I was raised in a church that did not preach the gospel or salvation in any depth. My Christianity was purely inspirational or the basis of a moral life. We left that church and by God's grace began attending a church where God's word was taught faithfully. Here I learned that I am sinner that failed to meet the requirements of the law and that I am doomed without a savior. At age 15, in April of 2000, God regenerated my heart and I believed on the name of Christ. Ten years later, much has changed but one thing remains: I still desperately need His grace. | |
I could write a small book here... All men are hedonists by nature and God has ordained their desires. Some men desire Christ, most men desire evil. This actually makes a huge difference in how I behave and how I treat other people. |
|
| I am outlining the book of Genesis currently. This is part of my larger attempt to understand the whole flow of scripture---consequently I am investigating the OT for the "suffering and risen" Messiah theme. (Luke 24:44-49) | |
| I appreciate Christ and Paul for many reasons (obviously) but in particularly I am amazed at how perfectly they balanced genuine personal love, affection, and kindness with intelligence and theological prowess. It is frustrating that most Christians accept a firm distinction between the two, as though you cannot possibly care for an orphan one moment and then refute a false teacher the next. Yet that is the kind of versatility we're commanded to have. | |
| Both singleness and marriage are gifts so I while I certainly look forward to the latter I am trying my best to take advantage of the former. :) | |
I enjoy people with ambition and passion, and a real desire to serve the kingdom in whatever way God has gifted them. Intelligence and an appreciation for learning and culture is very important. On the other hand, those who are loud, seek their own attention, or simply lack Christ-centered purpose in life do not appeal to me. As for women in particular, I am attracted to sweetness, gentleness, and humility. A heart for evangelism is a huge plus, and her first priorities are ministering to church and family. I hope that she has a positive attitude, grateful heart, and a good sense of humor. |

You will show me the path of life |

I want to use the gifts and opportunities God has given me to build God's kingdom. I don't want to leave anything on the court, so to speak, when I die, but rather hope that every breath I took was for the sole purpose of proclaiming the beauty and glory of my savior. In particular I enjoy teaching, namely young men who are also passionate about loving God and others. I doubt I will work an 8-5 job in engineering much longer. I am working toward financial independence so I will have more time for ministry and family. Eventually I'd like to pursue a masters degree. |

I try to study in ways that will benefit my future ministry endeavors--so lots of reading and writing. I also enjoy (slowly) learning new languages. My roommates and I try to host a dinner party once a month, and we play board games or watch movies occasionally as well. Otherwise I like to spend time with my community group from church. My vacations tend to be geared toward outdoors because the rest of my life is indoors. I also enjoy cooking, particularly Indian food (such as curry). A messy kitchen bothers me deeply. |
|
I was born in a Denver suburb but spent most of my childhood in rural, northern Pennsylvania. I love the mountains, hills, and coast. (Sorry, Midwest!) Right now I live in Cincinnati, which has just enough rolling terrain to keep me sane. As for travel---I have been all over the US and Canada. I have only been overseas once, to mainly German-speaking countries. I hope to travel more and might even live overseas if the opportunity presented itself. |
|
| My family is an indescribable blessing, but I do not live near them and am very mobile at this point in my life. | |
This questionnaire does not cover weaknesses or imperfections, and I have many. Nevertheless I believe that all relationships, friendship through marriage, are designed for our sanctification. Sanctification is not easy but it does make us more like Christ, which is beautiful. :) |
