I attended a liberal church as a child. When I was about 24 years old, God called me into His kingdom by leading me to an evangelical church where the gospel was preached. Over the next 5 years or so, I gradually but steadily moved towards the view that Presbyterian and Reformed beliefs are the most Biblical. Each day, I endeavor to sing Psalms, read the Bible and pray. I also seek to keep the Christian Sabbath holy as best I can. I hope that my practices will soon include family worship. My doctrinal beliefs are largely settled and I have a good idea the kind of church I wish to attend in the future. I am a member of Southfield Reformed Presbyterian Church. |

I was introduced to the doctrines of grace by my friend Mark, then a young seminary student. This was the first time I was exposed to the full richness and depth of Biblical truth. This first glimpse uncovered for me the vast resource we have in the historical expression of the true and reformed Biblical faith. I was immediately delighted with theology. The doctrines of grace lower man and elevate God. This is proper, and is both a challenge and a comfort. Oh, how far I have to go in my pursuit of holiness! Yet, how great is my God, who saved me for such a pursuit! And, really, reformed theology is the only way of consistently understanding the whole of scripture. Let us stand upon the shoulders of giants, yet always be reforming: ‘semper reformata". |

I endeavor to do morning and evening private worship everyday. I mostly sing Psalms from the 1650 Scottish Psalter or the 1973 Book of Psalms for Singing, read scripture, and pray. I like reading the Bible, but also like to listen to Bible audio. I am currently in 2 Chronicles. |

The story of Joseph's life is presently a favorite of mine because it so wonderfully displays God's providence. It also reminds me of my own situation because I have often been geographically separated from my three brothers, although this is not because they sold me into slavery! |

I believe I have a godly discontentment in desiring someone with whom to share my life. The Westminster Confession of Faith states: "Marriage was ordained for the mutual help of husband and wife, for the increase of mankind with a legitimate issue, and of the Church with an holy seed; and for preventing of uncleanness." I seek all these things. |

The church It is always difficult to hear reports of what goes on in the majority of churches in North America, even with self-identified conservative and orthodox congregations. May the Lord help us all to receive potent and powerful preaching from the Word and to offer true scriptural worship! The family I think many Christians are losing their children to the world because they are not consistently teaching the faith. The family is one of the most important ways of propagating the Gospel. Parents should not expect that children's programs in the church do this for them. They must be diligent to ensure that there is not an overpowering influence from the world. Children should attend the worship service with their parents and not be separated. Education The public school system is godless and often academically inferior. One of the ways that Christians can take dominion in society is to have our children educated in a Christian worldview and in a way that is much more academically rigorous. I really think people today are less intelligent than they were one century ago. One reason for this is a shift from a thinking-based curriculum to a skills-based curriculum. If you teach a man one skill, he knows that skill. If you teach a man to think, he can learn any skill. Athletics Although not in the same league as those things listed above, I am a runner at heart. I enjoy training and competition in long distance track, road, and cross-country races. Right now I am mostly running and lifting weights. It's going well, but there is a long way to go until peak fitness. Ah, such is the nature of physical challenges: patience, consistency, goals - that is how the battle is won. |

My salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. All of my brothers becoming Christians (see my Facebook page for a special picture). Being blessed by solid, Biblical preachers and teachers. The growing families of my three fine brothers. |

There are two main traits that I am seeking, and they relate to how my future wife may compliment me in my calling. There is an aspect of preference in these as well. First, I am seeking someone who is inquisitive and curious. People like this enjoy thought-provoking discussion. Do you enjoy discussing the sermon or a particular Christian book? Does conversation with you naturally turn to things of the Lord? I see this as complimenting me because I work in a university setting and often engage people on an intellectual level. Would you like to be a part of my life in this way? Secondly, I am seeking someone who enjoys physical activity. I am a sport scientist and physical activity is something I value. People who share this value seek to exercise regularly and enjoy this challenge. They enjoy being adventuresome and keeping their bodies in good shape so that they can see the world and enjoy God's creation. I still have sporting goals in my life (such as in running and triathlon), and places I wish to see. I am looking for someone with whom to share these experiences. Are you looking for a husband that will lead you, protect you, and provide for you? Do you desire to be submissive, helpful, and encouraging to your future husband? Are your goals focused on being a wife and mother, rather than on a career? |

"And all the congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced. So there was great joy in Jerusalem: for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem. Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy dwelling place, even unto heaven". (2 Chronicles 30: 25-27). Such was the joy of the worshippers during the feast of unleavened bread during the reign of Hezekaiah, king of Judah. Oh, for such a time of rejoicing in our land today! Even more, what joy it will be when we offer our perfect service of worship in heaven! I am also particularly fond of 2 Peter 1:19 for its beautiful imagery: "We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts." |

I am completing my PhD in sport and exercise science and I hope to submit my dissertation for final examination within a few months. I have recently started a new research job here in Michigan. I like my work, but I do know that I am at a very liberal place! Aside from that, academics is pleasantly challenging and allows me a reasonable degree of independence in my work. The work schedule for professors can be a bit flexible at certain times during the year and I hope that this will be a positive thing for my future family and possible opportunities for Christian service at home and abroad. |

I wish to work towards a long-term Christian legacy in my family. This vision extends beyond my lifetime and desires that sanctification in each subsequent generation will surpass the previous one. To the best of my knowledge, my brothers and I are the first reformed believers in our family. I want my descendents to have a steady increase in their prosperity, community leadership, financial support of the church, dominion in their profession or trade, and to be fruitful and multiply godly offspring through large families. Perhaps the most important Christian principle here is expressed in this passage:
"And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up" (Deuteronomy 6: 6-7). |

I have competed for many years in distance running in university and open competitions. Right now, I am spending a lot of time in strength and conditioning work, as there are still some goals I have with regard to serious track running competition. Of course, these goals are subject to Christian priorities. I don't exercise on the Lord's Day. Training is something I hope I can continue when I have a family, although I would have to ensure that it would be well-scheduled around family time, which is more important. I go hiking and camping from time to time. I sailed for the first time last year, in Cape Town. It was just dinghys, but I hope to get on a keelboat sometime soon. There are opportunities in Michigan; I just need to finish my dissertation first! I like listening to podcasts of sermons and various topics of interest. I also enjoy music and am developing my taste in the classical genre. |

I was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I have been to every Canadian province, over half of the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, England, Norway, Lithuania, South Africa, and Lesotho. I have lived in Nova Scotia, British Columbia, Ontario, Alabama, Cape Town, South Africa. I am currently living in Michigan. Will you help me to establish a home somewhere in North America? |

My parents are church-goers, but I do not believe they have a credible profession of faith. I have three younger brothers, all of whom are walking with the Lord. All of them are married. One couple has three children, and the other couple recently had their second child. My third brother got married last year, and I was able to attend. All of my immediate family live in Nova Scotia. I have recently accepted a temporary academic position in Michigan. Long term, I have a list of North American cities where there is both a suitable university and a suitable church. Because there is a limited number of cities where this is the case, I may not be able to live in the same area as my family, but it remains a hope (or perhaps within one day's drive?). |

My beliefs can be summarized in the Westminster documents: Confession of Faith, Larger Catechism, Shorter Catechism, Directory of Public Worship, and Directory of Family Worship. I think the closest denominations to my beliefs would be the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland, Presbyterian Reformed Church, Free Church of Scotland (continuing), and the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America (where my membership is). I believe in exclusive psalmody, a continuing Sabbath day for Christians, homeschooling, six-day creation, debt-free living, tithing, and courtship. Tongue-in-cheek ‘advertisement': Young man seeks wife. Full time, permanent position, with benefits. Accomodation provided. Position open until filled. No experience necessary, training provided. Presbyterian beliefs a definite asset, but not required. |
