I enjoy listening to music of most every type, reading, and spending time with friends and family. My interests are varied and numerous: Theology, linguistics, science, politics, history, and a smattering of other subjects.

I also enjoy interjecting song references and lyrics into everyday conversation. Most of the time, people don't seem to notice. But there are times when you see a twinkle in their eye and you realize that the two of you are on the same wavelength.

I am a non-smoker
I don't drink, but don't mind others drinking in moderation
Master's degree
I would like to have children one day.

God saved me when I was eleven years old. These days my walk with Christ is fairly consistent, but I do get tired of my sinfulness (Romans 7). Praise God for sanctification!

I was brought up in with a charismatic/pentecostal background, and the doctrines of grace were quite a rude awakening. They have taught me that life is not all about me. God is not obligated to me in any way; my very breath is an example of his daily grace. Until I realized this, I didn't understand how prideful I was.

I do have some QT with God at some point every day. Lately, I've been working my way through the Pentateuch.

I've always had a soft spot for John the Beloved. His writings ooze godliness. That man inspires me to cling to Christ in the hopes of walking away a bit more godly.

Am I content? More or less. God knows what's best, and I pray that His will is done. However, I can't help but to think about having someone to share my life with. I imagine it's a great thing to pray together with the one you love and to seek God's will together as a family.

"There is no more lovely, friendly and charming relationship, communion or company than a good marriage." -Martin Luther

You'll have to ask them, but they do say I'm "eclectic" fairly often.

The one thing in my life about which I am most passionate is Christ. I want to know Him better with each day that passes, and I want the same for others. Also, God has placed a burden on my heart for those who have been abused; I'd like to do more for them in the future. Please keep them in your prayers.

  2. Family and friends

The traits in others I like to see most would be...

  1. Kindness/gentleness
  2. Organization
  3. Independence
  4. Sense of humor
  5. Musical talents
  6. Cooking skills
I like to think that people can see the first four in my life; however, the last two are works in progress.

This is a tough one. Other than my parents, the most influential person in my life would be someone I have never met. That someone is Dr. John Piper. His sermons, books, etc. are available freely to the public, and I take advantage of them when I can. He is a humble, intelligent, loving pastor who values scholarship. I want to follow his example.

And I can't neglect my friend who first introduced me to Reformed theology. Thank you for sharing the humbling truth with me.

Though this be madness, yet there is method in't. -Polonius

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. -Ephesians 2:8-10

Who could forget the beautiful hymn "Come, Thou Fount"?

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love. -1 Cor. 16:13-14

For the past two and a half years, I have been an auditor of municipalities, school districts, and nonprofit organizations. I get to meet new people and learn about their accounting procedures/software to help them better their operations.

Earlier this year I began seminary studies, and I'm loving it.

My goals are numerous. Some will be accomplished soon, while others may never be accomplished.

  1. Become a licensed CPA
  2. Learn a foreign language or two
  3. Learn to play an instrument
  4. Run a marathon
  5. Become a (good) husband and dad
  6. Watch all episodes in the Star Trek franchise (Can you say "nerd"?)

My leisure time is limited these days, because I am studying for a professional certification. This journey began more than a year ago. Hopefully I'll be done in 2012. (If you're reading this, I'd appreciate your prayers.)

I enjoy reading, watching movies/TV, spending time with my family and friends, and learning new things. I am well acquainted with the History Channel, TLC, the Discovery Channel, and Turner Classic Movies.

I was born in East Texas and have lived here all my life. Traveling is not my favorite thing to do. Although I do enjoy seeing new sights, it is the actual traveling portion that I dislike. That said, I spend most of my time in East Texas, although I have been to most of the Southern states and Mexico.

I am the youngest of three in our fairly "typical" American family, if there is such a thing.

Amusement Parks, Astronomy/Stargazing, Bowling, Dogs, Fishing, Movies, Movies at the Drive-in, Museums, Music, Music/Vocals, Musical Instruments, Philosophy, Reading, Scenic Drives, Stargazing/Astronomy, Theatre, Volunteering, Walking

I'm usually up for trying anything once.

In short, I am a man of simple tastes who loves Jesus, dogs, good company, and good books.

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

Live long and prosper.
