| I would like to have children one day, AND/OR would gladly accept others. | |
| When I was 15, God called my family out of the Roman Catholic church. Under the leadership of my parents, I was exposed to the gospel, and God opened my eyes to my pride and sinfulness. Not long after we left Catholicism, I accepted Christ's payment for my sin and received forgiveness and abundant life. | |
| I know that God initiated and completed my salvation, because I wasn't seeking Him at all. As a new believer, I thought everybody believed in the Doctrines of Grace-- until a roommate at college yelled at me for being blasphemous. I spent a lot of time seeking God in His word and studying the Doctrines in the days following, Romans 9 took away my doubts about what I had already known to be true. I am thankful that other's acceptance/rejection of salvation does not depend on my persuading others to come to the truth. | |
I follow "read through the Bible in a year" schedules at my own pace. To keep myself focused, I write down thoughts and verses that stand out as I read. Sometimes I supplement my study time with books from Bible studies (Jerry Bridges, John Piper) or a MacArthur commentary. I was recently able to attend a conferece in the Dominican Republic and heard John Piper speak. He mentioned four things to "pray" as you open your personal Bible study that help your mind focus on meeting God. It has been really helpful! I-- "Incline my heart to Your testimonies" O--" Open my eyes that I may behold wonderful things from Your law" U-- ""Unite my heart to fear Your name" S-- "Satisfy us early with Your mercy" I hope this is an encouragement to you in your personal Bible study, too! |

| Besides Christ, I would say Daniel. I feel that I am easliy intimidated when talking to others about the Lord. Not only was Daniel bold to speak about God, but he also exhibited compassion and tact in his delivery of the truth (regardless of the possible outcome.) He never seems intimidated or cautious. What zeal for God! | |
| Yes, IF this is where the Lord has me. For the longest time, I have avoided all encouragement of romantic thoughts: chick-flick movies, novels, magazines, etc.-- anything that made me discontent with my singleness. As long as I nipped those thoughts in the bud, I was okay. There are a few times when the thoughts are really hard to fight, when I see couples holding hands or parents with their little ones. I try to distract my mind with something else, but I guess those feelings are perhaps a clue that maybe God does have marriage and a family in His plan for me. I read a book where the author mentioned that if you have feelings such as these, it probably means that you were NOT blessed with the "gift of celibacy". But if God wants me to lean on Him and be content with my unfulfilled longings, I'm okay with that, too. | |
I had to consult my friends on that one: Good listener. Loyal. Disciplined. Perseverant. |
|
| I love playing my violin (or fiddle, depending on style!) I play for worship services at church, for weddings and events, and for Rowan Tree, a local irish music group. I love fiddling-- I "feel God's pleasure" as I play (to borrow the quote from Eric Liddell.) | |
Besides my relationship with Christ: My family-- they have been the most supportive, loving friends! A couple of good friends who really met a fellowship need after I returned from college. A good cup of coffee (especially on days when I teach 5 1/2 hrs. without a break!)

| My brother often reminds me that life is all about relationships, and all relationships are risky-- they're built between two forgiven sinners. There are qualities that I admire in others-- humility, prudence, initiative. But I also realize that just like myself, others are learning and growing in the Lord. My dad has two criteria for a good mate: do they have a high view of God, and a high view of His word? Other unpleasant or sinful behaviors will come under conviction if these two characteristics are present. | |
| My younger brother, Zachary. I really admire his spiritual maturity and wisdom. He is really well-read, especially in the area of worldview studies. He can discuss spiritual things on a deep level, and we have had some really great conversations since he has been home from college. He has a way of encouraging others to engage the culture for Christ and be discerners. He has also passed on a lot of good literature (recently "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan) and downloaded sermons by Alistair Begg, Mark Driscoll, and Tim Keller. I really have appreciated his "iron sharpening iron" sessions with me, | |
"Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation" Hab.3:18 (Rejoicing is a choice! ) "Set your mind on things above" Col 3:2 |
|
| I teach strings lessons (violin, viola, cello) at a music store in Evansville and at private homes, and direct a strings program for a local homeschool fine arts co-op. I enjoy working with my students, especially in the co-op because I choose the music, plan, and direct the class. I had been working at a public high school with their orchestral program, but I lost that job this school year, and am currently looking for additional (and more stable) employment. |

I have had the desire since high school to homeschool my children (if God should bless me with children one day.) I have tutored students, and it is so thrilling to see the "light" switch on as they learn to read or understand math concepts. I sometimes feel very frustrated because I do not make specific "goals", and therefore do not have anything to aim toward or achieve. I desire to honor the Lord with the talents and abilities that He has given me, but where that will take me I am not precisely sure. |

I love good quality art: music, paintings, literature. I like to read-- especially good classic literature. Some of my faves: Shakespeare, Dickens. Robert Louis Stevenson, Mark Twain. I like being outdoors. I really missed the woods when I lived in Florida. I am not athletic, but I like hiking and biking. I am an avid knitter/crocheter. My hands are always busy in the car or in any moment of sitting and talking with others. (I guess it calms my "ADD" and helps me focus :) I sell things that I make, as well as dried herb seasonings from my little garden, at craft fairs. I am a big history buff. My idea of a vacation is traveling to historic sites and hitting all the battlefields and museums along the way. (My sister thinks I'm crazy-- she would much rather be on Chicago's "Magnificent Mile.") A few highlights of past trips: Book of Kells and the Rock of Cashel in Ireland, Vicksburg and Shiloh Civil War battlefields, Williamsburg and Jamestown VA, and the National Gallery of Art in DC (including the only DaVinci painting on this continent). |

| I was born in Southern Indiana. I have traveled in the USA as far North as Niagra Falls, as east as Cape Cod, Mass., and as far south as Florida, but only as far West as Kansas City. I spent 6 yrs. at college in Florida. Recently, I guess I have been bit by a "travel bug" because I took an (absolutely amazing!) trip to Ireland in May, then went to Dominican Republic in June to visit some friends there. I really like being able to go beyond just the tourist attractions and get to know the people and culture in different countries. (It really helps if you can communicate-- my Spanish was awful!) | |
| I love my family dearly, but the 6 years away at college taught me that I can live away from them, too. The world is such a "small" place anymore, thanks to technology. My cousin teaches in Ecuador, but she attends family functions via Skype. (It's a little strange to have her "present within a laptop", but I am glad we can all fellowship together.) I would like to stay close to home, especially for the sake of my unsaved and fragile grandparents, but I am open to wherever God calls me. | |

As I mentioned before, I love to fiddle (Irish and Bluegrass are my favorite styles). And I like to travel. I want to see more in Europe (especially Ireland, England, and Italy). |
