Jesus Christ is the author and perfecter of my faith. I believe He grabbed me up at an early age and has not stopped refining me ever since. It is not an easy journey, but a journey without which I would feel hopeless! I do not believe that faith is a one time deal, but a daily communion with the Lord. I am trying to learn as James said, "to call it pure joy when we experience trials of any kind". I don't know exactly how we do that, but I know that one day at the time seeking God's face and desiring to glorify Him is the only way to live. I don't claim to be perfect, just saved by grace.
I really didn't know it was called the "Doctrines of Grace" until recently. I first experienced this view through a Passion Conference at which I heard John Piper talk about how Jesus had come to die on the cross to glorify His father in heaven. Funny, I had grown up in church thinking He just died to save me. I find it hard in today's culture to continuously point back to God's sovereignty and that He does things to glorify Himself not purely for us. That has changed my entire view on life. It changes every conversation, how evangelism is done and the type of church I attend. There is a lot more to this, but that is it in a webpage nutshell so-to-speak.
I do not have a "quiet time" as such. I believe that everyday is a day to be lived with the Lord. So, I seek to love Him and speak to Him throughout the day. I would like to have a specific time for more specific study, so I am working on that, but overall, I believe in communing with Jesus throughout life not just at one time.

Okay...I like them all...let me name a few and why.

Esther - sought to honor God even to the point of risking her life for her people

Job - in spite of great tribulation never "cursed God and died"

Paul - I admire His straightforward way of saying things - I find it hard to do pretense...so I identify

Of course, Jesus, but I figured that would be the Sunday school answer everyone had.
I am content for now, but I have a great yearning to partner with someone in this life and ministry to others. I also want to have children of my own or adopt children. I have always been a nurturer and I feel like I was meant to be a mom at some point. This life is not easy....but, together is better than apart!
