Bachelor's degree
I have children but would like to have more.

I was in 5th grade when I realized that I was a sinner and that the wages of my sin was death. I grew up in a Southern Baptist church so I have battled doubts through the years feeling as if maybe "I needed to rededicate my life one more time, and this time I'll get it right". Over the past six years I have realized my salvation is not accomplished through any act of my own, but by the grace and mercy of my Lord and Savior who chose to pay the price for my sin on the cross of Calvary. The Lord is sanctifying me continually as I work out my salvation in fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12)

There is such freedom in grace alone and knowing that I don't have to "keep a list" (a list that I would fail at keeping anyway). Knowing Christ's fulfillment as the perfect sacrifice on that cross and His glorious resurrection was God's plan to draw a wretched sinner like myself to Him...how can I be anything but His?

I am presently doing an online study of John the Baptist through Living Proof ministries, but I also dabble in the studies of Chuck Swindoll and my former Sunday School teacher, Bruce Judisch, author of Ben Ammitai (prequel to a trilogy about Jonah). My sons and I are studying through the beginning of the Westminister Confession of Faith. I also am reading Grace Unknown by RC Sproul, and I recently finished The Courage to Be Protestant by David F. Wells. Next on my reading list is The Pleasures of God by John Piper. I have been blessed to be reminded that I can approach the throne of God even in mundane tasks like laundry, refining my attitude to make the task of caring for my family my offering to the Lord.

Hannah who poured out her longings to God. Her passionate plea shows me a woman baring her soul before the Lord. I too have cried out to the Lord, and I am so thankful to be able to lay prostrate at His feet, bare soul and all.

I am trying to be content (remember I'm wretched by nature). At times I remember to be immensely thankful for how the Lord has provided for me these past few years of singleness. At other times I yearn for the chance to be a better wife and more of a helpmeet.

Merciful, generous, creative, and kind.

Raising my precious boys into godly young men, my sweet church, my devoted extended family, and my precious friends who are raising up generations to know the Lord! God always preserves for Himself a remnant even in uncertain times such as these.

Being able to be with my sons much of their time, parents who moved to San Antonio to help me with my sons, and a church that has cared for me as if I am a widow.

I like to be around people who are friendly and easy to talk with. I love being around someone who holds me to a higher standard and makes me want to strive to be a better woman. I am fairly insightful, and I enjoy it when others are intuitive. I love to give anonymously, and I would want to be with someone who also enjoys giving selflessly. While in some areas, I readily see right and wrong, I tend to lean towards mercy (sometimes too much), so it might be good to have someone who is a strong perceiver.

My pastor and his wife. They have guided me spiritually as I have come to understand our Reformed theology, and they have lived out Christ's love for my sons and me by helping to raise my sons when I had to return to work.

I try to speak respectfully of my boys' father, so suffice it to say he broke his marriage vows and chose to leave us to pursue a sinful lifestyle. While I know that I was not a perfect wife, ending the marriage was his choice, and there were Biblical grounds for divorce. I can share more details at a later time.

We have been on our own since November 2005. I fully believe in Romans 8:28 however, and I know that God causes all things (especially painful ones) to work together for His good. I am confident of that!

Favorite Scripture: Romans 8, Isaiah 43:1-4, Jeremiah 29:11, Psalm 27, Job 38-41, Hebrews 11, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, James 1:2-17

Favorite Hymns: Be Thou My Vision; It It Well With My Soul; When I Survey the Wondrous Cross; Come Thou Fount; Great Is Thy Faithfulness; Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee

Favorite Movies: The Lord of the Ring trilogy, Gone With the Wind, Finding Nemo, almost anything with Will Smith in it, action movies (they go hand in hand with having sons :), The Blind Side, Facing the Giants, Soul Surfer, The Help

Favorite Music: Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, Avalon and Point of Grace, Broadway soundtracks, 80's music and Country (sorry, can't help it :)

I just achieved a goal when I finished Atlas Shrugged which is a LONG, challenging book written over 50 years ago, but which has almost a deja-vu feel to it considering our society, economy, and government today. I also recently read The Help and America Alone by Mark Steyn, and I'm now reading Les Miserables and Bee Season (a story about a young Jewish girl whose life is changed by entering the National Spelling Bee). I also like to read mysteries and stories about families, most recently I read Kisses from Katie, the true story of a young college girl who moved to Uganda to start a ministry and adopted 14 daughters there (and she's only 22 herself!).

I am a pediatric nurse at a local children's hospital. I work 32 hours a week (usually two 12 hr days and one 8 hr day), but I am dropping down to 24 hours soon so that I will have more time for schooling my boys in preparation of getting my older son ready for high school. I have worked at my hospital off and on for thirteen years (full-time the past seven since becoming single). There is great satisfaction in helping a sick child feel well again, and in helping the mommies and daddies cope with having a sick munchkin. Prior to doing pediatrics, I was an active-duty Air Force nurse for three years at Wilford Hall at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

To raise my boys to be godly young men who will spiritually lead and provide for their own families someday. I may consider going back to school when my boys are grown so that I could become a nurse educator if that's what the Lord wills for my life.

Being a working single mom who homeschools her sons, I don't have too much leisure time. When I can find time, I usually like to read or cook. Both my boys are playing baseball now, so I can often be found sitting in the bleachers at Little League games. I do make time to work out in an effort to be healthy enough to be a great-grandma to lots of munchkins someday.

In the suburbs

I was born in Laramie, Wyoming. We moved several times in my childhood (CA, CO, NE, MD, KS, MO). I went to college in eastern Iowa, and I followed the Air Force to San Antonio, where I have lived for 16 years now.

I love visiting Chicago, New York City, and Orlando! And I am convinced that some of God's finest creations are the Hawaiian islands. My extended family hail from the South, and I treasure my southern roots. This past summer I was tremendously blessed by the opportunity to go to Guatemala to serve on a medical mission trip, and I fell in love with the people of Guatemala. As far as other countries go, I have only been to Canada and Mexico, but I would like to travel to Europe someday.

My sweet parents moved to San Antonio four years ago to help me with raising my sons, and I will never be able to thank them enough this side of heaven. I have another brother here in San Antonio that we get to see fairly regularly. My youngest siblings are twins. My sister and her family live in Austin, TX so we get to see them a few times a year. Her twin brother and his family live in Kansas City, and we treasure our visits with them once or twice a year.

My sons' father recently moved back to San Antonio from Phoenix (where he had been for four years), to be closer to the sons he was missing growing up. That would make it challenging to relocate in addition to the fact that my precious church has cared for us so well during all of this that it would hard to leave them. All that being said though, I will of course leave it up to the sovereign will of God.

Amusement Parks, Baking, Baseball, Cards, Puzzles, Board Games, Cats, Cooking, Crafts, Dogs, Fishing, Gardening, Hiking, Ice Skating, Miniature Golf, Movies, Museums, Music/Vocals, Needlework, Picnicing, Sightseeing, Soccer, Theatre, Volunteering, Walking, Zoos

Playing games with my sons, reading, homeschooling, cutting coupons/meal planning/finding recipes, walking the dog, working out, watching my sons play sports, going on field trips with my kids, following the news on the Drudge Report/Fox News/Real Clear Politics.

I marked other for my church denomination, because while the worship style and theology are similar to Presbyterian, we are not affiliated with a specific group. The website is my church's website. I lean towards Amillenialism with regards to eschatology.

We do have pets (my children are pet-lovers, I tolerate the pets for the sake of my children) - cats and a dog. I intend to homeschool my sons through high school unless God makes it clear to me otherwise. I firmly believe that Scripture gives parents the responsibility to train up their children, and since I have been given that responsibility, I will run the race with endurance. To God Be the Glory!

Atlas Shrugged! What an earth-shaking book that was. (So to speak.) Have you read Fountainhead?

A much-belated welcome to SGS! I see you went to college in Eastern Iowa. What school would that be? (I'm originally from Cedar Rapids, and graduated from the University of Iowa.)

Blessings to you,sister!
