I grew up going to church and have professed Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord since I was around six years old. The Lord has been incredibly good to me. I desire to please God in every area of my life, though I know that I fall woefully short of God's standard. I'm thankful that God is faithful and continuing to sanctify me in this spiritual pilgrimage.

The doctrines of God's glorious grace remind me that my salvation is all of God's grace alone (not of my own merits) and that I can only approach His throne of grace with a heart of humility and gratitude. I'm grateful for Christ's active and passive obedience in my stead. My sins have been imputed upon Christ on the cross; and in return, His perfect righteousness has been imputed to me by faith so that one day I can stand before God--being clothed not in my own supposed "righteousness," but in the perfect, spotless, blameless righteousness of Jesus Christ alone. I give God all the glory for His undeserved grace and mercy.

The Doctrines of Grace have also impacted how I view or face the circumstances in my life because it gives me true solace to know that God is sovereign over all things (including the salvation of His elect) and nothing can frustrate His plans. They've also changed my approach in evangelism, so I may witness to others in a way that is not only consistent theologically, but also honoring and glorifying God.

To put in a nutshell, the Doctrines of Grace have impacted my views of God, myself, my life, my world, my duties . . . everything.

Yes, I try to daily read Scripture. I also keep a reading list that I work on throughout the week when time allows.

My dear Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ (though I don't think He can be labeled a "character"). The Old Testament prophesied "Jesus is coming" and the New Testament proclaims "Jesus is here!" All that I am and have is because of Christ. Without Him, I am nothing. On the side, I love the godly examples of Daniel and Joseph.

I enjoy being around people who are godly, loyal and faithful, live purposefully for the Lord, wise, trustworthy, joyful, humorous, love the Scripture, know what they believe in and why they believe it, committed to the lordship of Christ in every area of life, possess good strong qualities of leadership, not afraid to speak for what is right (even when it's unpopular), etc.

Godly folks/friends whom the Lord has placed in my life. And also the various preachers and authors who have been instrumental in shaping my worldview (including Dr. James R. White who introduced me to the Doctrines of Grace via his writings). There are wonderful works written by mature believers I have relished reading, and I am gathering insights from their many years of growth in the Lord. I especially love the 16th-17th century Puritan divines (they, by their works, though dead, yet speak). Their application of Biblical principles toward different areas of life (e.g. worship, the Sabbath, family, money, church, work, social action, etc.) and devotion to the Lord serve as inspiring examples I'd like to assimilate in my own life.

"Were the heart more humble, the tongue would be more silent." --Thomas Watson

"I have a peaceful study, as a refuge from the hurries and noise of the world around me; the venerable dead are waiting in my library to entertain me, and relieve me from the nonsense of surviving mortals." --Samuel Davies

"A man's most glorious actions will at last be found to be but glorious sins, if he hath made himself, and not the glory of God, the end of those actions." --Thomas Brooks

"Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person." --Colossians 4:6

"The final test of a gentleman is his respect for those who can be of no possible service to him." --William Lyon Phelps

I keep a list of short-term and long-term goals. My life-long goals are to glorify God in all of life and to be more conformed to the likeness of Jesus Christ as much as possible in this fallen world. I fall woefully short of God's standard, but thanks be to God for His mercy, patience, lovingkindness, and grace.

I enjoy learning and playing the piano, learning & discussing theology, curling up with a good book, watching good old-fashioned movies. I like to laugh, fellowship, and spend time with the Lord's people. When time allows, I like to jog or exercise in the gym. I enjoy listening to sermons and lectures via my iPod. One of my favorite speakers is Dr. Joel Beeke. His preaching on the providence and sovereignty of God have comforted and encouraged me many times.

I'm blessed to be a member of my church. We sing the Psalms exclusively in worship and share similar distinctives with the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing). I embrace Exclusive Psalmody in the private and corporate worship of God; and my confession is the Westminster Confession of Faith.
