I enjoy reading God's word and meditating on the truths of Scripture and exploring the implications of how these truths play out in every day life as sort of "kitchen table theology". I hope for my faith to not be merely an intellectual endevour, but one that is burdened for the people in this world whose greatest need is Christ, to know and be known by Him. I see as a part of this calling my work in healthcare to share God's love with hurting people. Among the authors who I regularly enjoy reading (or whose sermons I regularly listen to) are John Piper, CS Lewis, Alistair Begg, John McArthur, Albert Mohler, John Stott, and Ravi Zacharias. Currently, I am studying through the book of Romans. I also enjoy devotional writing, journaling, staying fit, and completing a master's degree in nursing in my free time. I completed an M.Div. at SBTS in 2001. |

I grew up in a Christian home and was blessed to have had the Gospel preached to me as a child. Even while I was raised in a Christian household, I recall a vivid season of my life in my early teens when the ownership of my faith, the desire to know God and serve Him became my own. I remember one moment in my youth when I consciously placed my hope in Christ as the One who would bear my sins. It was then when I came face to face with the doctrine of sin experientially. I remember understanding that I was lost and without hope because of my sin and that the only solution was accomplished for me already in the person of Christ and what He did on the Cross for us. Since that time when I placed my trust in Christ to forgive my sins, I have come to take my sin more seriously. I have also grown in an increased appreciation for the Gospel. I find that no matter where I go in my journey with Christ I never move beyond the Gospel. John Piper speaks of our calling to glorify God as the basis of our satisfaction in Him. I don't have it all figured out, but I think this is something I am seeking to apprehend more fully. Even though I am not there yet, I desire for my desires to conform with God's. I desire to have a God-centered view of things. |

Yes, I often have a time of prayer and Scripture reading. On occasion, I will read through Calvin's Institutes and I find it to be great devotional reading. I enjoy reading commentaries written by theologians of the past, like Robert Haldane's commentary on Romans. Frequently, I will study a passage of Scripture and share what I've learned with a friend to encourage them too. I am currently reading through several of C.S. Lewis' books and am especially enjoying, "The Weight of Glory". In this work it becomes readily apparent how Lewis' thinking helped to develop John Piper's paradigm of Christian Hedonism. Through a careful reading, I have gained a deeper appreciation of the significance of delighting in God and seeking in every way to give glory to God by being fully satisfied in Him. |

I think contentment can have many dimensions. In one sense, yes, I am content in the Lord, or at least I strive to be. On my best days, I choose to believe in God's sovereignty and to rest in His promises and grace, and out of that to obey and love Him. I find John Piper's paradigm of Christian Hedonism to be essential to my journey to finding Christian contentment. We can chat more about that sometime if you'd like. In another sense, no I am not content. But I suppose not being content is a good step in the right direction if one would like to be married. So, in that sense I am not. I would like to share my life with someone and honor God in that relationship. |

I have worked in the field of health care since 2001. I really enjoy the opportunity to contribute to the lives of others and to honor God in my profession. I currently work as a nurse practitioner. |

I enjoy weight lifting, reading, singing, writing songs of worship to God, poetry, and serving the local church. I've also done some improv classes which are a lot of fun. |
