"Buddies" are a way to keep track of your friends on SGS. When you meet someone whom you want to remember and talk with again, you can request to make a conection with them to make it easy to find them again. The people you connect with show up in the list of your friends under "My Profile - My Buddies." It's a "buddy list."

Buddies are also a way to let other SGS members know who your friends are, to give them an easier way to meet you. In some Asian cultures, and to some extent in American culture, it is of great social advantage to be introduced to a stranger by a mutual friend. Having groups of friends isn't good if it fosters cliques, but it is good when it fosters networking. For example, I don't know Bronzie personally, but I do know Reformed98323.

So if I were a woman, I might ask Reformed98323 what he knows about Bronzie, or if he could introduce me to him. We could plan a group get-together, because we know we would be among mutual friends.

You can create a buddy connection with someone by visiting their profile, then clicking "Buddies - Request Connection."

You can manage your buddies by clicking "Buddies - Manage Your Buddies" on your or anyone's profile, or by clicking "My Profile - My Friends - Manage your buddies" in the main menu.
