Hello All SGS Members!! In a recent Newsletter I wrote this: "An SGS/Hurricane Katrina Service Opportunity in Louisiana at a Reformed Church there which is the home church of one of our members, Laura, ("Lahudsonchef"). I've been in contact with the Pastor and Elders and they would LOVE to have us there for as long as we can give and they've assured me there is LOTS of work to do. The date will be March 11th and going for a week or however long one can contribute. This will be a Work Event and the conditions might be somewhat primitive. I have been emailing Pastor Esposito and, after a good phone call with him today, I am sending all of you this email to inform you of the status and what you will need to do to join us! Her is his email to me a few weeks ago: Hey there Dean, Good to hear from you. We are continuing our relief work here in the New Orleans / Slidell area and have had crews varying in sizes come through to do work. We would certainly appreciate any help you could give us. We can currently handle about 25 folks in our church building and have a shower and full kitchen. We will be finishing a 1200 sq ft annex building, Lord willing very soon which will afford us the opportunity to do even more outreach and community work. Setting up a trip and a crew of volunteers through your organization would be fantastic. When you can, call me at (985) 768-9934 and we can discuss details as to how this might work.
