I would like to have children one day, AND/OR would gladly accept others.
I came to a saving knowledge of Christ at an early age, in second grade, in my Sunday School class. The teachers name was Mrs Good. (sounds like a name out of pilgrims progress) I was raised in a Christian home with my mom, and her parents, my grand parents. The Christian faith defines my world view. The fact that the father would reach down and regenerate me, fills me with awe, I still don't know why he did?... The reformed faith came into my life when I was in middle school through the mentoring of a friend. Currently my walk with God now is average, somedays are good, some days are hard. I guess that's the christian walk. I am Learning to die, daily. God is teaching me to give up my will, what real faith means, and he is taching me how to love like christ would love. This comes at no small price. It's a good thing, but it hurts most days. One thing about being a person of faith in christ, there is no room for shallowness. sin is sin. i have it, and so do you. In the eyes of God,apart from christ, we are all ugly. in the past year or so I have learned that every person needs the grace of God. In our own ways we are all, totally unworthy. i am hoping to find a woman of mercy and grace, to love me as chrst does. because I am just a man. that search is on going....
The doctrines of grace have affected my life by giving me a deeper understanding of and appreciation for: Grace, Faith, Freedom, Liberty, Passion, and Truth in Christ. Many of the people I know are not reformed, so its been hard trying to show other professing believers the grace of God. We are called to be salt and light to the world but it seems to me that I am being salt and light to other believers. Not that I'm all that, but they just have little idea what a life of grace and faith means. Mostly the change works itself out by being around like-minded people. So this sets me apart from a lot of people and I lack deep relationships with them because of a lack of seeing the same visions and passions of life. Also by not accepting the common things in life. Living by faith to me means choosing the less easy through life. Living humbly seems to suit me. This is how a clearer vision of Gods Grace has affected me.
This year I am reading through the bible in a year. Help keep me accountable, ask me how Im doing.
I like Paul, we think a lot alike. He had a single mindedness to give up his life for the gospel that I admire. Even before he met Jesus he had a passion for following God. Once he met Jesus his passion went right on plowing the way for us- gentiles. His human mindset almost seemed unearthly. I long for his vision. I desire it, but I really don't know what it looks like.
Content, humm... well I guess the answer you want to hear is yes!, That somehow conveys confidence and a lack of need on a mans part, making him seem more attractive, but the truth is God designed us to be with a life partner. God himself said that "It is NOT good that man should be alone", so I am just reflecting that truth. There is a peace about where I am at the moment. As I get older I wonder if it is in God's plan for me to marry. I would like to have someone to go through life with, but I am not worried about being single, I am looking forward to the next chapter in my life to begin. I am waiting for the day God will introduce me to my best friend and I know she will be someone I can build a Christ centered family with. If God chooses not to open that opportunity for me, then I’m ok with that. I ask him with-expectation, and I have not heard a No, yet Most days it is very hard, since I have few reforemd friends and no prospects of even dating a reformed woman. Hope, in this area, is a hard thing to come by.
Patience, A Servants heart, Passion for the word, A good communicator.
My hearts cry is for a God centered family. I desire to have my children home schooled preferably with a Classical Christian Education. I want them to grow up studying and living the Word. I want them to think, to learn language, logic, rhetoric, and truth, all for Kingdom purposes - to Share the Gospel of God. I did not grow up with a home schooling background but after a friend introduced me to the benefits, I don't think I could accept anything else for my future family. I am hoping to find a woman who has a passion to do this with her future family as well. Scripture also instructs us that it is the parents’ responsibility to teach and train the kids and I think this is more God honoring. I never had any of this as a youth, so I am desiring that God would give me the desires of my heart. To try to give the best I can to my children.
My Mother, A Soft/warm bed to sleep in, Coffee- the good stuff.
A Beautiful womans character and personality, by the grace of God, encourages her family in the rebuilding of a culture of virtuous young woman and Godly young men. She has, Femininity, A passion for motherhood, purity and contentment, and faith. The beauty of being a true woman of God, to me, is to dare to believe that the biblical vision of family is a glorious vision and not a burden. A willingness to be led, softness, gentleness, modesty, adventurous, likes to try new things, a good communicator, patient, has a spirit of forgiveness,(side note: men goof up all the time and we ALL need strong forgiveness from our woman/wife/girl friend). She feels that this is her life purpose in serving God. I have been praying for a wife who wants to fulfill her role of being a Proverbs woman. I like to have fun and joke around, but also know how to be serious and have deep discussions about life and God. Usually the kind of people that connect well with me can talk about real life and issues, not just the weather. (Remember ladies, men like women with minds, and we do appreciate conversation.) I think many people are not used to having those kinds of conversations. Even in our casual conversations we should be seeking to lift up Jesus and not just be talking about the latest TV shows and such. I'm not really into Tv. I would prefer not to have one in the house, I rarely watch it. I'm not too partial to going to movies either, there never seems to be anything out there to go and watch that either helps me grow as a man or entertains me. I'm not formally against Tv or movies per se' ,just not into it. I do like older films and I would rather go to a play and see real people, something with a plot and dialogue. I am kind of addicted to the Food network. I love working in the kitchen, fixing and serving food to my friends. Me and my friends have recently picked up a few older books and started going through them. One is the 5 love languages. So I am a Physical touch and I am a Quality time kind-a-guy. Also we are working through the Myers Briggs personality book. so I am a INTP kind of person. If that helps any? My other personal traits are thus: Im a very sinful man and I need a lot of Jesus.
Thats a very hard question for me to answer.
The People that chose to be around me and that chose to show me mercy and grace, are the people that have helped me become, more.
I have never been in a serous relationship.
"Be transformed by the renewing of your minds." "I do not believe we can preach the gospel unless we preach the sovereignty of God in his dispensing of grace; nor unless we exalt the electing, unchangeable, eternal, immutable, conquering love of Jehovah; nor do I think we can preach the gospel unless we base it upon the special and particular redemption of his chosen people which Christ wrought out upon the Cross; nor can I comprehend a gospel which lets saints fall away after they are called." (Spurgeons Autobiography, Vol I Ch XVI p.172)
I am a secret agent for the kingdom of God. Slowly changing peoples minds and hearts to be responsive to the calling of the holy spirit and showing Christ's love at any opportunity, while working for U.P.S. Freight as a truck driver. I do like my job. I can not believe they pay me for driving around town all day talking to people.
God has blessed me with a debt free lifestyle, so my only goal, at the moment, is to find my love, get married and start a family, lord willing. Right now I am trying to learn what it means to be a better spiritual leader so that if God gives me a wife and family I will be better equipped to that role, but It's like trying to learn how to swim without the water!, so hard without someone to interact with! Also, Just to be used by God to help others grow and move closer to a knowledge and understanding of him, his grace, and doctrinal truths. I love to teach the bible.
Remodeling my house one room at a time. I cut and split my own wood. (real man stuff) I also like to bake and cook. Real men cook!
In the suburbs
I was born and raised in the same neighborhood, and house I grew up in, in Baltimore MD. My mom is/was a single parent due to an early divorce, so I was raised by my grandparents. As for "traveled" I have never been outside the U.S. except for a bit in Canada. I have been in all 48 except for North Dakota.
My parents were divorced when I was 3. My dad and his side of the family are not believers. My mom and her parents raised me in a good Christian environment and in a good bible teaching church. Having been raised mostly by my grandparents, I kind of have an old school philosophy about me. I try to take my time with planning things out. I don't feel the need to be hurried or pressured in keeping up with the pace of the world. My immediate family is small, but I do come from a large family. Right now it's just my mom and I. Relocating? Well, God has blessed me with a house so I currently have no plans of relocating.
Take a chance and talk with some of us out there who may not seem what your looking for at first glance, you might be surprised! Please feel free to initiate contact, I am always seeking new like-minded friends to talk with, and I don't mind if a gal lets me know she's out there. I don't always have time to keep up with new people on this growing site, so I might not even know your out there if you don't say hi. If you think that's an unbiblical request, I beg you to prove to me Chapter and verse. Please remember that if we guys do initiate contact first, that we ,as men, are just doing our job and I would hope that if your not interested in us, be kind about it. So many women just ignore us or treat us harshly and I don't know that that shows biblical maturity, so If we do, please show us love and mercy and remember that we are trying to do what god has called us to do as men, and we men hope that as you think and pray about us you will keep the door of communication open so you we can have at least a chance to get to know you. Remember what most men are hoping for is a lady who is willing to just be responsive. If my profile doesn't line up with what you’re looking for in a Christian brother or a potential for a relationship, please drop me a line anyway, It's good just to make a new friends who are like minded and perhaps we can have some good conversation. Since you have endured reading my profile I hope you will take a look at some of the pix I have posted on this site. This may help you get an idea of my life, my friends and my personality. Password to pictures is "don". I hope you find, that which you seek. SynDoulos = Your Fellow Bond-Slave In Christ
