A wide variety of interests include being a young-earth creationist (see Answers in Genesis, and Institute for Creation Research).  Others include the Southern Heritage Movement (Life Member, Sons of Confederate Veterans;  member, League of the South, and Southern National Congress); strong advocate of the Second Amendment (actually, the entire Constitution and  Bill of Rights), Life Member, National Rifle Association and Gun Owners of America, and active memberships in Virginia Shooting Sports Association, the Airfield Shooting Club, the Virginia Citizens Defense League, and the Second Amendment Foundation.  Also, I collect Bowie knives.  Quite politically active, I've been a card-carrying member of the Constitution Party for five years.  Browse their website here:   www.constitutionparty.com.   The Republican Party became far too reprobate for my faith walk, and I had to leave.  An avid reader, often have 3-4 books going at the same time. The subject matter includes Southern Heritage, politics, Citizens' Defense (militia), miscellaneous Christian subjects.   Love to visit and tour Southern towns and cities, and small beach towns.    Enjoy watching pro football on TV.  This year, my college (Old Dominion University) fielded a football team for the first time in 69 years.   They went 9-2 in their first year, setting an NCAA record for new start-up teams.   Also enjoy watching pro tennis on TV or in person if the opportunity arises.  Additionally, great entertainment includes Scottish/Celtic festivals (the Grandfather Mountain Festival in GA is the largest in the world), and Scottish Tattoos (the Tattoo, in conjunction with the International Azalea Festival in Norfolk, VA, is fantastic!!).  Enjoy a wide variety of CD's, including praise and worship songs, oldies but goodies from the 50's, 60's and 70's, and Scottish/Celtic music (check out Charlie Zahm and Celtic Woman).

I was 43 years old and had been a member of the PCUSA denomination for 30 years when I was saved the evening of August 19, 1985. Things changed radically from the inside looking out, and those around me were regularly astonished by the overt changes in my life, because they don't see many conversions in the PCUSA.  One key change was my being drawn to young-earth creationism.

It was at this point that I began to learn all about Reformed Theology, and it made incredibly good senseSmile. Prior to my conversion, I didn't really care. Though an active member of an interdenominational and evangelical congregation,  I became more Reformed (Calvinistic) today, than ever before. Fellowshipping with Armenians and semi-Pelagians was eye-opening.  I'd listened to Drs. D. James Kennedy, R.C. Sproul, Steve Brown, and Barnhouse and the Bible for years on Christian radio. A.W. Pink (The Sovereignty of God), and John Piper (Future Grace) are two of my favorite authors, but I have MANY. I have shelved my NIV Bible for the ESV Study Bible with notes by Dr. R.C. Sproul, and really enjoy the translation,  but  keep handy my copy of the 1599 Geneva Bible from Tolle Lege Press.  The Geneva Bible is the translation brought both to Jamestown, VA by the First Settlers in 1607 and in 1620 to Plymouth, MA by the Pilgrims on the Mayflower.

The first recorded Thanksgiving actually occurred with the First Settlers in Jamestown, not with the Pilgrims in Massachusetts,  and is one of the first intentional historic misrepresentations which ultimately initiated the division of the South from the North.

Early to bed and early to rise, I begin every morning with my hot cuppa java, and the Word, using the "Walk Through the Bible" reading guide, "Closer Walk", which leads me through the New Testament each year. Though having spent many years in a Presbyterian environment, I have problems with infant baptism, and have been investigating the Reformed Baptists (ARBCA) and the Fellowship of Independent Reformed Evangelicals (F.I.R.E.). At present though, neither of these denominations has a congregation near me.   I have a 40-mile commute to an ARBCA congregation in Suffolk, VA but it's a bit more legalistic (KJV-only, etc.) than my understanding.

The Holy Spirit compelled me into His Kingdom at the time God had foreordained, and truly, His grace is irresistable. The Spirit led me into His Word right after my conversion, in order to learn what had happened to me. This is also where I learned the error taught by Methodists: unbelievers are NOT wooed!! Wooing only happens to Believers, as the Spirit deepens their walk with God. Unbelievers must be compelled ('forced') into the Kingdom, aka 'irresistable grace'.  I am very content and at peace, knowing that God will finish the work in me that He has begun, despite my fallen nature and related poor choices. Because of this, I have strong faith-trust-belief-confidence in God's sovereignty, and His personal presence in my life in order to accomplish His will, and in so doing, to glorify Himself. Hallelujah!

I'm in the Word every morning, currently using an annual Bible-Reading-and-Devotional plan from "Walk Through the Bible" Ministry, that I have followed for over 20 years now. I'm fascinated with the Jewishness of the very early Church, from the time of our Lord and his Apostles until about 300-400 AD(time of Constantine). Also, I'm interested in the origins and real history of the early Scots-Celtic Christians in the British Isles that began around 35-36 AD. Dr. Francis Nigel Lee has done some fascinating research where this early history is concerned, and there is much info in his website. So has Dr. Oskar Skarsaune, "In the Shadow of the Temple".

Early in my new faith walk, I was led to young-earth Creationism, and have followed the Institute for Creation Research (ICR) and Answers in Genesis (AIG) ministries closely since then.   Also, there is a creationist ministry affiliated with Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale, and a creationist ministry affiliated with American Vision, both of which teach from the specific Reformed viewpoint.  My favorite on-line ministries are American Vision, Vision Forum and Nicenecouncil.com.  They are Reformed and have excellent books and DVD's.   Because so many Scots and Scots-Irish early settlers from both Scotland and Ireland relocated  to the USA and migrated to The South, study of the Confederacy and Southern Heritage has also become a strong Spirit-led interest.  I have an ancestor who was in the artillery of the CSA Army of Northern Virginia for the entire 4-year duration of the War Between the States, under Gen. Robert E. Lee.  He kept a 'Testament" in his front shirt pocket which stopped a Yankee minnie-ball, saving his life.  Otherwise, he was never wounded.

Caleb, because he patiently waited until he was 85 years old to receive God's land promise . . . and was still physically strong enough to drive out the Philistines in order to take possession of it. What a guy!!!!!!
I don't have the gift of singleness, but for now I'm in a place of waiting for the Lord while caring for an elderly Dad who will be 94 in April, 2010. In trying to give God some unsuccessful help in His mate-selection process, I've been married twice as an unbeliever to an unbeliever. The Lord compelled me into His Kingdom 13 years into my second marriage, which created additional problems in an already difficult relationship. As my ex-wife said of my conversion, "You've done some crazy things, and this is the craziest yet". She was right! Thank You, Lord!  Both of my divorces have been Scriptural, initiated by the desertion of the unbelieving spouse (I Cor. 7:15), both of which have since remarried twice over. Thus, I am ready to experience the joys of a Christian marriage. I thank God for His arranging that I can do so without committing adultery. Also, the Word says that it is not good for man to be alone, and it is better to be married than to burn with passion. Thus, I'm waiting on the Lord as fast as I can!!! Laughing
Loyalty, dedication, honesty, hard-working, patient, faith-filled, an encourager, curious.   (this was a big box so I put in eight).

*The huge number of deceived-unsaved people Frownin the mainline church (PCUSA, UCC, ELCA, UMC, Episcopal Church in the USA, et.al.), and how to be the Lord's Ambassador for them; *the fields that are white with harvest, and how to reach themSmile. *The Democratic party has long been way off the beaten path, in the high weeds for a long time. Sadly, the Republicans have followed the Dems over there, so I actively support the Constitution Party; *installation of a constitutional judiciary and if possible, reversal of much of the legislation that has come from an activist judicial bench and a blind/selfish/greedy congress; *short-circuiting the ACLU, and the homosexual and the Islamic agendas in the USA; *increasing border security on both the Mexican and Canadian borders, and deporting the millions of illegal (criminal) entrants; *delighted in seeing the freeing of the two Border Guards who had been imprisoned by the Bush administration for chasing off a drug-smuggling illegal Mexican; *an active pursuit toward the education of our citizenry, and return of the USA to our Christian and Constitutional roots (which is why my political support has changed from the Republican Party to the Constitution Party); *an active advocate of making English the official language of the USA by supporting lobbying efforts of U.S. English; *Southern Heritage support via 'Sons of Confederate Veterans',  'League of the South', and Southern National Congress; *life member of National Rifle Association and Gun Owners of America; CHP permit holder in Virginia and Utah pending;  strongly support our Constitution and Second Amendment; *last but not least,  supporter for Scottish independence!

1) My salvation, and the fact that the Lord has Kingdom work for me, despite my grievious sin nature; 2) Having been born in this incredible nation of ours (to them that much is given, much is expected);  3) with the Spirit's direction to study, and become involved with the Southern Heritage movement (Veritas Vos Liberabit! - The truth will set you free); 4) His drawing (so far) of at least one of my kids into His Kingdom.
I'm outgoing, and appreciate that trait in a woman. I'm relatively neat and organized, and also appreciate that trait. I generally don't procrastinate, and prefer to do the hard part first. If it's broken, fix it, but if it's not broken, leave it alone (politicians need to learn this, especially the liberal Dems!). I'm early to bed, and early to rise with the Word in one hand and a hot cuppa java in the other. For years, I've used a Bible-reading guide from 'Walk through the Bible'. I greatly appreciate an intelligent, educated woman who might have a somewhat zany sense of humor and a sense of curiosity. I would like a mate who enjoys sharing the gift and joys of hospitality (a Scriptural command that is oft overlooked), and perhaps cooking out all year round;  Southern cooking???; Someone with whom can be shared an interest in both Scots-Celtic and Southern Heritage and culture.
My dear forever-single school-teacher, Aunt Margaret (Margaret Lee Stewart- the "Lee" was taken from her father, and yes, the "Lee" was for Robert E. Lee, the original Virginia Gentleman). With Lee as the example, she was determined to make me a Virginia gentleman, also, and she was somewhat successful (but she always thought I'd be a doctor because my penmanship is terrible). She was a Bible teacher in her Circle, a telephone-tree prayer warrior, and was the epitome of "decently and in order". What a lady!!! Additionally, I can't overlook Starr Merritt, that black man with the gift for evangelism, whom the Spirit of God used to bring my Election to fruition.
My second marriage ended in 1996 (April 15, tax day, ironically) after an 18-month separation, and I've been single since then. The first marriage ended in 1970. Neither marriage was as a Believer to a Believer; however, as the Spiritual head of the family, whether I recognized it or not at the time, I'm responsible for the failure in both marriages. I've definitely learned to BE EQUALLY YOKED.  Being equally yoked includes doctrine, and also personal interests and likes/dislikes. The more alike a couple is, the better will be their relationship. Magnets are the only "opposites" that really attract. In 2004, my two youngest children received their BBA's from my alma mater and are out making their way in the world, so I can again consider meeting someone for myself. My youngest daughter was married on Sept. 27, 2008.
The two key Scripture verses given to me by the Spirit of God, are Isaiah 48:17, in response to a prayer urgently prayed by this baby Christian("Lord, if You're REAL, please confirm that to me with a verse of Scripture") just three weeks into my new-found faith (conversion on evening of 8/19/85); and Luke 11:23, the one verse that can be applied to practically anything as a "rule-of-thumb" test to tell if anything is or is not of Christ ('for' vs. 'against', and 'gathering' vs. 'scattering'). I'm coming to understand this verse as being totally reflective of one's worldview. We can either look at the world through Bible-colored glasses and be pro-active Christians, or look at the Bible through world-colored glasses, and be reactive! How many people today, especially politicians, claim to be Christians, but actually are against Jesus and thus, are scattering!!
The common denominator of nearly everything I've ever done is one aspect or another of marketing. I worked in Christian radio for several years, selling ministry programs and advertising for the for-profit stations.  Also, as Owner's Agent, coordinated the construction of three FM stations including the station now on the campus of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA.  I produced/hosted a Christian public affairs talk program which was on-air for three years, and for two years, was development director for another newly-constructed Christian FM station. I was a branch manager and vice president of a Hampton Roads mortgage company (which is how I know the recent crash in the mortgage market was based totally on greed). Before that, was a product manager for a line of specialty consumer products with a Fortune-50 manufacturer, having national P&L responsibility for the line. I was successful in sales of newspaper advertising in the small town where I live, though I really did not enjoy this line of endeavor. Additionally, finally discovered that there was a dark side to the newspaper where I worked, which ultimately compelled me to retire.
To visit Scotland and perhaps Israel; to visit many more Southern cities and towns; to see many more come into the Kingdom, from those fields white with harvest; to have whatever impact God directs/allows on the deceived-unsaved in the Church (those who have works without faith, and/or faith without works). The Southern Heritage Movement is part of this, and seek to become more actively involved.

A voracious reader, mostly related to Southern Heritage, Scottish roots and Christian non-fiction. Attending Scottish Festivals and Tattoos are great fun. Having joined League of the South, and having found the requisite CSA-Veteran-ancestor to join Sons of Confederate Veterans, attend some Confederate re-enactments, as well as Southern Heritage events. Also enjoy visiting little off-the-beaten-track coastal towns in Virginia, North and South Carolina. In addition to attending some re-enactment events, I would like to attend a Confederate ball or two in period dress. I enjoy reading and researching the Christian roots of our nation, and also do lots of hunting and fishing . . . in thrift stores!!!

Recently, much of my spare time has been invested in researching South Carolina, particularly Summerville, for a possible relocation there from Virginia.  I've already had three trips down to browse the area . . . and I fell in love with it!!!Laughing  Shrimp and grits is not just for breakfast anymore!Cool

On the coast
Born in Norfolk, VA and grew up as a NAVY Brat, one block from the Chesapeake Bay, thus I love the beach. I have travelled through most of the states in the USA during my business career, and in Mexico and Canada as a young child, but never overseas. I would like to visit Scotland.  I spent 30 years living in Norfolk, 25 years in Va. Beach, 4 years in Newport News, 1 year in the Martinsville area, just a couple of miles from the NASCAR race track, and most recently, 10 years so far in Courtland, VA (from which I think I understand the concept of purgatorySmile).
My family is actually quite small. All my kids are grown, are as educated as I'm responsible for, and are out on their own. My mother died in 1973, and I have no brothers and sisters. My unsaved Dad remarried but his second wife died in 2000. I own a home with him (now in his 94th year), but sadly,  he  worships the Gnostic god of Freemasonry.   Have investigated relocation to South Carolina because VA Winters are getting to be a bit too much . . . by far my least favorite season. Presuming I outlive my Dad, upon his death, I will move to SC. Are you familiar with Summerville, SC, about 20 miles west of Charleston?  That's where I will be headed . . . A quaint and delightful town in a quaint and delightful region which is oozing with Southern Heritage!
Baseball, Cards, Puzzles, Board Games, Cats, Computers, Cooking, Scenic Drives, Shooting, Rifle, Sightseeing, Spectator Sports, Table-Tennis, Tennis, Theatre, Volleyball, Walking, Zoos
Voracious reader of Christian non-fiction; student of the Jewish roots of the very early Church; interested in Celtic Christianity and my personal Scottish roots; interested in Southern heritage, the Confederacy and it's rise and fall; life member of Sons of Confederate Veterans;  enjoy shooting sports and rifle/pistol target shooting(life member of NRA and Gun Owners of America).  Let me tell you about my AR-15 combat rifle!Cool   I also collect Bowie knives, large hand-held knives having a unique blade shape, and named after Jim Bowie, one of those gallant frontiersmen who lost their lives to Santa Ana at the Alamo.
Would like to learn more about my Scottish roots (though they might be in Ulster, rather than Edinburgh). Also, have always entertained a thought of living on or near the coast, because I grew up a block from the beach on the Chesapeake Bay, and then spent 20 years on a pristine 66-acre lake in Va. Beach. After Dad passes, I plan to relocate to South Carolina, to the Charleston area (to an interesting town 20 miles west: Summerville). I used to be a politically-active Republican, but due to Pres. George W. Bush and his support of both CAFTA/NAFTA, the North American Union, Empire-building generally, and illegal immigration, I have become totally disenchanted with them. I now advocate the Constitution Party  (www.constitutionparty.com) due to it's Biblical approach and primary party plank of a return to Constitutional government.   Also, beware of today's Democratic Party, a very immoral group!
