I love all kinds of music from CCM to classical to Russian pop. I enjoy shoes (lots of shoes) and fashion, but I love my Lord Jesus Christ above all material things, of course! I adore the church, and I consider myself a student of His Word and always reforming. I was adopted by two loving parents when I was 15 years old. I have been back to Ukraine five times to visit, but I consider America as my home (I am an American citizen.) My father is an OPC minister, who will only allow me to date good Reformed Presbyterians! ;-) He was once a ruling elder in the URCNA, so I can also date a solid Dutch Calvinist! My favorite book of the Bible is the Psalms; I find them inspirational, well because they were inspired by the Holy Spirit, of course! My best buddy is Izzy, my beautiful two year old chihuahua. I love the guitar, but I'm still quite a novice at it. I absolutely love to sing. I love the Blue Trinity Hymnal, so I am also an old fashioned hymn girl, but I do love a new song. I am a firm believer in the Regulative Principle of Worship, so if you are into contemporary music in public worship, I am not your girl. However, I do love to go to Christian concerts. I prefer psalmody in worship, but I am not an exclusive psalmodist. I am definitely a spiritual work in progress as we all our. . . always Reforming
One has to understand that I was born in the former soviet city of Nikolaev, Ukraine. Once the curtian fell, the Orthodox church came back to life. I never believed in icons or in the superstitions of the Eastern Orthodox Church, so I remained an unbeliever for many years. Even after my adoption, I refused to submit my heart to Christ, although I witnessed the consistency of faith and doctrine among those in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. My father, an OPC minister, taught me that I needed to know Christ, assent to Him, and to then to believe in order to have saving faith. For awhile I had the notitia down as well as the assensus, but never the fiducia. That trusting part was and is still very hard for me. I grew up as an orphan and I witnessed a lot of bad human behavior, including that of my biological mom. I have had a very tough pilgrimage, but I am absolutely convinced that my Lord and God loves me and has saved me from my sins. I do not believe in works-righteousness. No one can earn his/her way to heaven. I am into all the solas, and Uncle John (John Calvin) is my hero. I love our family devotional time together, and private worship means so much to me. Really all of life is worship! Presently my family and I are reading through the One Year Bible together and then we sing from the Psalter every day. We are a tight knit family that genuinely loves and serves the King! We are very close with our church family as well since we are small intimate church plant.
Amazing grace is truly amazing. Without my Lord and Savior, I would be in the streets of Ukraine living aimlessly. In Odessa many girls have had up to nine abortions before they reach their twenties. I am so thankful that I have escaped that and have been brought into the church by Him who gave me loving parents. I was once a very angry girl--and who wouldn't be if your mom was drinking vodka while you were in the womb. I was abandoned, picked up by the State and placed in a state-run orphanage sharing a room with eight other girls. I lived my life with dreams of escape and a better world. By the time I was adopted, I was still angry because it seemed to me that God had taken His time to answer my prayers. I struggled with attachment issues with my adopted parents at first, but things improved. I could not believe that people really love each other in the church, and I really, really couldn't believe that Jesus Christ would love a wretched sinner such as myself. I love the church, I love my family, but above all I love my Lord and God.
At night I pray and have my own study time. This often happens right after our family worship. At the moment I am studying Scripture and other Christian material in my training to be a distinctively Christian nurse. In my private time I also love to sing the hymns. Of course, I also read the Bible all the way each year--the One Year Bible. I also memorized the Shorter Catechism. I love the Heidelberg, too. Yes, the Three Forms of Unity are near and dear to my heart, but what can I say, a girl's heart in the end has to decide, and for me nothing beats the Westminster Confessions. Is there anything in all of literature that can compare to the brevity and beauty of the Shorter Catechism? So here's the lowdown for my future hubby: our kids memorize the SC and they get baptized as infants. Sorry to all the beautiful Reformed baptists on this list, and they're lot of them ;-)
My favorite character is Ruth. Here is a woman who was uprooted and driven by faith to live in obedience to God. I love how she thinks covenantally even as an outsider coming in--she is truly inspiring to me. I also love Moses--so much drama and yet for the most part he was so self-controlled. When he faltered, he did not find excuses. He accepted God's discipline in knowing that he would never step into the promised land. But He stepped into the better promised land of Christ. Moses had wonderful face time with God (as much as any man could be able to do). I want to have that face time with my God through reading His Word and prayer. Granted, that would be a spiritual communion, but is there anything sweeter?
I am content with the providence of God, but I would love to be married and to share my life with a mature Reformed Christian man.
I have been told that I am kind, that I have a good sense of humor, that I am witty, and that I have a big heart. It was a struggle for me to give my heart to others since I was abandoned, but I have seen through the grace of Him what happens when you selflessly serve and open your heart to others. I'm a lot of fun to be around. I can have a crazy sense of fashion. I like to be unique, or so I have been told.
My faith. I love my Lord above all. I also love people. I love to lift people's spirits, but that all goes back to my prized faith.
Jesus Christ, my immediate family and Christian brothers and sisters in the church.

I prefer those who are sincere, candid, and honest. I hate mind games. Those who flatter and are filled with duplicity will not find me pleasant company. I enjoy people who are not afraid to be who they are. Be yourselves! Also be willing to admit your faults or when you are wrong.

I am loving. I can be a little envious (so I am not pretending to be perfect either). I am definitely caring.

The pastors in my life have been wonderful spiritual guardians for me. I have had some dear role models from my church as well.

I have too many lines from the hymns to mention. I love Psalm 98!

Oh sing to the Lord a new song,
for he has done marvelous things!
His right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.
2 The Lord has made known his salvation;
he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations.
3 He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
to the house of Israel.
All the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation of our God.

4 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
5 Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre,
with the lyre and the sound of melody!
6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn
make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord!

7 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
the world and those who dwell in it!
8 Let the rivers clap their hands;
let the hills sing for joy together
9 before the Lord, for he comes
to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with equity.

I would love to be a nurse, a wife, and a mother in any order except the mother before being a wife. Smile
I used to like Eastern Europe-style clubbing/dancing (even though I don't drink or flirt) because I love to dance, but I found myself being more of a let's watch a DVD at home kind of girl. I don't care for the American bar scene at all. I really prefer staying at home, cooking, listening to music, and yes, I do have a thing for cheezy horror flicks. Okay, I also reeeeeeally love to shop for shoes and dresses, but I am not necessarily a mall rat.
Born in Arbuzynka, Ukraine. I have been all around the world. I speak three languages. I am a citizen of the United States of America. I love my native land, but I love my new home in America--the best country in the world after Ukraine, of course Wink I do speak fluent English with a decidedly Eastern Europe accent.
I love my family. My sister Tatiana was also adopted (a year before I was). I could live anywhere from Miami to a suburb in Des Moines, Iowa.
I can be very old school and still enjoy the "in" things. For example, I love to needlepoint and do crafts (scrapbooking) and I love the latest fashion. I consider myself a diehard Calvinist on heels. If you ever saw Reese Witherspoon's Legally Blonde, well. . .I am legally brunette, but don't speak valley-talk, can keep up with a lot of seminarians in talking theology, love apologetics, Reformed liturgics, Fox News, and some say I am pretty intelligent or pretty and intelligent. Yeah, I have the Eastern European vibe going, but am looking for a man of real Reformed substance. If you can talk fashion and Bavinck (okay maybe just Bavinck), give me a shout.
If you do smoke occasionally, I expect you to read NTJ– http://oldlife.org/ntj/
