I came to know the Lord at a young age...not sure my exact age...I don't remember a time when I didn't believe. I love the Lord--and am growing in Him-- my faith in Him is being tested every day--especially, lately as I really don't know what's next for me. My two year work contract recently ended, so I'm looking into different options. The tests that come along drive me to the Lord...and remind me of what a gracious God we have...as He has provided a way for us to be forgiven of our sins...in Christ alone. I'm humbled that God would be faithful to me and keep me enduring in Him, when I see how weak my flesh really is. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.... if my salvation depended on my committment, I would have lost my salvation long ago. Fortunately for us, God is always faithful....and He has given us His Holy Spirit to convict us when we need to repent, and empower us to seek Him and live for His glory.

I recognize that the reason we are saved is because of God's gracious effectual call...and our salvation doesn't depend on man's free will...or human committment So when trials come, I know that God is sovereign....and ordaining everything for His glory....even sin. People who believe the doctrines of Grace live differently, understand better God's grace, are more rooted in the faith, and are better equipped to handle the difficulties life brings them. They tend to stand out and bring more spiritual leadership. Which is why I'm seeking this in a spouse. All of my friends, with the exception of one, hold an arminian view--I love them all--but I have hard time connecting with them on a deeper spiritual level. I've found that, as a single, this has deepened my feelings of lonliness. Technically, I'm calvinist baptist as I'm not reformed in my eschatology. I firmly believe God has a plan still for Israel--so I would be classified as 'premillenial'. For a good book on this, read "Future Israel" by Horner. I've noticed in reading some profiles, some go as far as to sing only psalms, or are sabbatarians, or are against any drinking; I do not agree with these perspectives. I am thankful for the gift of music and appreciate various genres. I believe that Christ is our Sabbath rest; the Sabbath represents the rest we have in Christ. "It is not possible for a man to produce acceptable works for the Sabbath rest." (quote from my dad) The law, including the 4th commandment, is there to reveal our sinful condition....and that we are incapable of keeping it. Rom.3:23. This rest cannot be earned. The people of God enter this Sabbath rest through faith in Christ. As for the day we worship..it was never mandated in the Bible that the Sabbath is now Sunday--the first day of the week. Acts 13:42-44 and Acts 16:13. Quote from my dad who has done extensive study on this: "For Gentile believers to require that Jewish believers assemble for fellowship and worship on the first day of the week is as legalistic as it is for Jews to require the seventh day of Gentiles. Paul gave the principle clearly in Galatians 5:6..." |

I'm trying to get through a reading of Isaiah-- and I've been enjoying listening to a sermon series by John MacArthur on I John. As well, my Bible study is going through a Piper conference on postmodernism. My favorite preacher is John MacArthur.... I've grown spiritually through his studies...and just starting a book by him called "The Jesus you can't Ignore." I had the privilege of attending Resolved this past June...and I can't wait for the next one!

I'd prefer to meet someone naturally...I'm not really crazy about the online thing. But, alas, I am here... as there is a serious (unreported ) shortage of single guys my age in the Fraser Valley. I enjoy meeting new people, thrive on challenges, and different experiences...so I've had a lot of opportunities to go out with Christian guys--and could have been married by now. But it's not easy to find someone who holds similar theological views....who's discerning, spiritually. And my Grandma used to say, it's about finding someone you can't live without (not someone you can simply live with.)...so this makes it nearly impossible. So I'm not on here because I'm desperate....I'm looking for that rare guy who is fun and who also takes biblical things seriously, as evidenced in his life and how he treats others. As far as my singleness...I just try to make the best of it. Dierks Bentley's song, "It's a long trip alone" describes my feelings about the single life pretty well. |

| Spontaneous, adventurous, a good listener, easy going | |
I'm passionate about the Gospel--living to glorify God--and sharing Christ with my nonbelieving friends. I'm a bit obsessed with nutrition and may pursue further studies in this. I love playing the piano...I took lessons all my life....and I seem to express myself most easily sitting at a baby grand piano and playing. If only I had one!

I enjoy being with guys who are slightly more extroverted than myself as I am an INFJ (slightly introverted) according to the Myers-Briggs Personality test. I think that I'd be best suited to someone who is funny, energetic, affectionate, communicative, patient, loyal, godly, humble, good listener, and, loves unconditionally. Can't stands: arrogant, stubborn, couch potatoes, overbearing, controlling. I can be reserved at times...but I can be outspoken and will speak with passion, especially if the topic of conversation relates to political issues or theological matters. Other traits: loyal friend, soft-spoken, hospitable, empathetic, forgiving, easy going (not stubborn). I have a dry/sarcastic sense of humour. ...I love the comedic banter between Jim and Dwight on The Office. They're hilarious. |

| Well, most, if not all, have been long distance 'relationships'. I've realized they just don't work--unless regular weekend visits are possible. I also learned that having shared values and theology is awesome--but--personality compatability is also necessary. I need someone who makes me laugh...and has a fun adventurous side....in addition to loving the Lord and taking Biblical things seriously. I discovered this about two years ago. I'm not looking for perfection... I just hope that whoever I'm will love me for who I am--weaknesses and all....and not try to change me. And vice versa. | |
I'm currently looking for work in copyediting/proofreading or ESL teaching work....I'm open to a new adventure. I may take a break to do some traveling...I'd love to do a short-term stint in the French part of Switzerland with a Christian ministry. (My arts degree is in French). I've done various types of work over the years: Employment Counsellor, Piano Teacher, ESL Teacher, Rehab assistant, etc. I haven't settled on one career yet--so when I am asked, "So...what do you DO?" My answer -- I do more than one thing. I'm just versatile that way--it might have something to do with the "arts" in me. I adapt well to change--and actually enjoy it.

Live for God's glory--share Christ with others. Grow in the knowledge of God. Buy a house....so I can host more family/friends at once! :) I'm moderately ambitious....and have plenty of goals.....some are educational, spiritual, relational, materialistic... etc. |
|
Play tennis, work out, hike challenging mountain trails, socialize with friends, take road trips, camping, reading, running, rock climbing, hanging out at the beach in the summer, etc. |

| On the coast | |
| Born and raised in Alberta...but have lived on the coast for about 6 years now. I've traveled to New Zealand twice (worked there for a year), and Australia once. I've traveled to about two-thirds of the States. | |
| I'd prefer to stay on the coast. I could probably handle living in NZ for awhile again though. :P My family is back in Alberta...my parents have been together for almost 40 years....and my older brother is married with 2 little boys, 1 and 3. I love being an Aunty.... | |
| Airplane Rides, Camping, Dogs, Hiking, Ice Skating, Kayaking, Skiing/Downhill, Soccer, Volleyball, Weight Training | |
| I also play the guitar...and enjoy learning new guitar tab....or just picking songs by ear, listening to a recording. | |
Please don't express interest if you're over 37 or if you've been divorced. I'd have no problem dating someone a bit younger than me...as I get mistaken for younger...so anyway.... a few years older/younger is OK. It turns out I'll be away for almost 2 months-- January and February -- NZ and Aussie, Lord willing. So if I don't reply to your email that is probably why.
