SGS, you deleted all my profile information!  So here I go again....
I don't know my exact point of conversion, but I know I began to strive to be a disciple of Christ at the age of 23.  It was at that point that I realized that my life really wasn't worth much if it wasn't unto the Lord.  Since then, it has been a series of mountaintop and valley experiences.  I think I would choose all of the sufferings and trials all over again for the joy of knowing Christ more intimately.  It has been those times that He has shown himself so completely faithful.

Big question.  I think I will for the rest of my life continue to try to wrap my mind around what it really means to be a sinner saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.  The supremacy of God coupled by his grace are almost too big to understand.  The fact that a completely sovereign and just God chose to save me is a big concept that I'll always be chewing on. I desire to be a student of His Word and to daily increase my knowledge and understanding of God as he is revealed in the Scriptures.  However, I don't want to ever get away from the simplicity of the cross and want to spend my life meditating on its beauty.

I am in the habit of rising early in the morning to spend time in the Word.  Lately it has been hard.  At 5:30 am, I am tired and it's hard to concentrate!  But I am a creature of habit, and thankfully, that's a habit that was established quite a while back.  Right now I am reading through the Bible with my church.  I started Deuteronomy this morning (3/13/10).  I am also reading through The Attributes of God, by A.W. Pink.

Hmmm, I'd have to say Ruth.  I love to read her story.  I like her because she had such a quiet and humble submission about her.  My favorite part is when she lays at Boaz's feet.  I like it because it gives me the freedom to let someone know if I'm interested.  Rest assured, I won't be laying at anyone's feet, but I might send a few messages here and there.

Let's be honest.  Would I be on this site?

Those who don't know me: outgoing, fun, compassionate.

Those who really know me: selfish, prideful, insecure.

Marginalized, impoverished and oppressed children. I am involved (on a short-term basis) in a home for former street boys in Peru.  I love those boys fiercely and look forward to going down to see them about twice a year.  (www.notforgotten.org)

Art. I love to paint and collage.  My art serves as a vehicle to pay for trips to Peru as well as supplies for the boys.  (www.artforthem.wordpress.com)  Oh, and it's also very therapeutic for me!

Fellowship. The church is a body of believers, not a building.  Consequently, fellowship with other believers is very important to me.

I am a fourth-grade teacher.  I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) for seven years and this is my first year teaching 4th grade.  I love my job.  I love teaching in any capacity.  It has been so fun to watch my students grow and to be a part of God's work in their lives.
I would love to get married and have children.  I hold that desire loosely because I don't know what the Lord has for me.  I would love to live on the mission field one day with my husband and children.  Again, this is a dream and not necessarily a goal.  The dreams that I had for myself 10 years ago did not necessarily include me in my present state, but it has so clearly been the best thing for me.  God knows me so much better than I do!  Therefore, the dreams that I have now may not come to fruition, but I hope that in ten years I can say the same thing I am saying now...God knows me so much better than I do!
