| I love science fiction and fantasy books, movies, and TV. I like history, theology and philosophy. I'd rather play a board game than watch or attend a sporting event. I'd rather go to a museum or the opera than hang out at a bar or club. I am more excited by computer hardware than sports cars. I'd rather listen to Bach than Michael Jackson. Overall I'm a big 'ole geek :) | |

| I have known the love of God for as long as I can remember. I first made a profession of faith at around the age of 5, but looking back I think I figured that's just what you do as a minister's kid. As a teenager it bothered me that I had no "conversion experience" the way my parents did (both first generation Christians), but as I've aged I have come to feel quite thankful that I've known Jesus all my life. It wasn't until I joined the navy and began to really encounter different Christian belief systems that I truly began to realize how unique and wonderful the reformed faith is. My intellectual faith is much stronger than my emotional faith (hey, I'm a guy, no surprise there) and I often have difficulty feeling the love of God while working and living with people whose worldview is so totally different than my own. But God is great, and I belive he can use me to his purpose where I am. | |
| Before I go to bed I read scripture and try to further my Christian education. Right now I'm reading through the Gospels again, just finished Matthew, and am reading The New Testament and the People of God, by N.T. Wright. | |
"And it lifts me up to glory, for it lifts me up to Thee!" -Oh the Deep Deep, Love of Jesus My mother used to sing this hymn to me every night before I went to bed, it's probably the reason I love mournful sounding music. "Lend your wings! I mount! I fly! Oh grave where is thy victory? Oh death where is thy sting?" -Claremont, The Sacred Harp 245 I love the Sacred Harp tradition of hymn singing (youtube it if you've never heard of it, it's pretty awesome), it's raw and emotional and totally different from modern praise and worship music. |

| If you are interested in "courtship" (or something similar) that's great, but please provide an explanation; not all Christian guys automatically know what the heck you're talking about when you say courtship, especially since the term is used differently by different people. |
