There are several causes that you can correct that may prevent you from using Chat.

Chat is a separate component of the SGS site and logging into SGS more than once by leaving without logging out can cause problems.

1. Since the Chat window is a separate component it relies on your username and password being correctly authenticated by it. If you log in differently than how you normally do keep in mind that your username is not case sensitive when logging in to SGS but your password is. Chat needs to see your username just as it is registered, so forgetting to use a capital letter may prevent you from getting into chat.

2. Be sure you are not blocking Pop Ups from SGS, or User Plane pop ups.

3. Is your Java Script, Java, cookies set to allow the User Plane for Chat.

4. Try logging out, then clearing your cache file and cookies and closing your browser before logging back in again.

Trying these things first may help you get into chat.

While other browsers do work with SGS they often do not work as well. You might have some difficulties with how some things display, Java Script, etc. if you use a browser other than FireFox.

It is a large file and not recommended to download by those on Dial-up. If a friend has a DSL or cable modem connection and is willing to download and burn it onto a CD for you that would be the preferable way to obtain it.
