Chat is a real time user interactive component of SGS. Users can use their web cam and microphone so others can see and hear them, and if they also have web cams and microphones are able to carry on conversations. To get into Chat go to your SGS menu bar and mouse over My Profile scroll to My Chat Profile on the drop down menu and hold your mouse over that. Another side menu appears that says Chat rooms, move your mouse over that and click on it and a new popup window appears. The new window will have a image showing that it is loading... looks like a horse's mouth chomping sideways.... and a status bar showing percentage. If you use popup blocking, or in FireFox use NoScript, FlashBlock or QuickJava, be sure to set it to allow the User Plane component. Your firewall software may need to be set to allow the connections too, depending on your firewall you may need to search it's help files on how to do that. To use chat it is recommended to be on DSL or Cable (broadband) modems but it should work with dailup (though it will be slower and does not work well with audio and visual components of chat). |
