Hey everyone! It's been a long time since I've visited the discussion board, or since I've really participated in any conversations on SGS. Part of the reason is that I have been so tied up with things at home i.e. a new granddaughter who has completely stolen all of my time and attention (and I'm not complaining in the least!), taking care of my youngest daughter, looking for another job to replace my most recent position with a financial institution, studying for my license as a financial advisor, and trying to deal the best I can with unrelenting health issues.

I have been struggling with high blood pressure for a few years now and was recently diagnosed with an enlarged liver. While I do enjoy a glass or two of champagne in the evening (never exceeds 2 1/2 in a single night) my doctor tells me that I am under the "recommended limit". I also just found out that I have two protruding disks in my lower back that is causing some compression of the nerve roots. I have been on painkillers of diverse kinds, none of which is really bringing any relief, but causing nausea, drowsiness, and constant headaches. On top of this, I am doing my best to guide my young daughter and her husband through a rocky marriage, trying to help them hold it together.

My doctor recommended that I see a specialist for my back and get some P.T. but that can't happen until this coming year due to the specialist having a booked schedule until January 2007. The goal of the seeing a specialist and going to P.T. is to avoid surgery.

Please pray that I may be sustained through all of this by the hand of the Almighty. I feel that Satan is violently sifting me as wheat.

Hi, Anne -- will be praying for you! My mom has been with chronic back problems particularly bad this past year, so I can relate second-hand. I know how debilitating and frustrating it can be, first with the pain and secondly with the impact on an active lifestyle ... and thirdly with not being able to get in with appropriate medical personnel in a timely fashion.
