Don't you dare get rid of thumbs down. I like it. And what's more is I'm gonna give everyone a thumbs down who suggested we get rid of it. (Ironically you are both on my buddy list HA)
You see what a meanie LIF is. Here my OPC brother picks on his little OPC sister. He's just an SGS bully. :)

I rather like the thumbs up for forum posts only, just so I can vote up helpful posters. I could do without the thumbs down. I have never used it anyway. The hit count thing I find mostly silly. Sure, it might be a good way to gauge whether your profile is being effective . . . but it sort of encourages a sort of vanity contest thing. Maybe if the hit count wasn't public that would make more sense?
I had to give you the thumbs down, Chris, because you were describing my vanity. LOL Just kidding. I heartily agree.

I think maybe the visitor stats (the hits) can tell a person something about exposure, and I think a thumbs-up button is potentially encouraging, but a thumbs-down button is not needed and can be cruel. If a person feels a post is not useful then he/she does not have to hit the thumbs-up. Ironically FB is more honorable here than SGS. They offer a like (and a modified dislike to cancel the like if that was done by mistake), but they don't offer an outright dislike or a thumbs-down. Just wanting to tweak SGS to be a better site than it already is. :)
For the moment I'm inclined to leave them in place, because they are not completely meaningless. But, I've made a note to "Consider which stats are actually useful enough to be on the profile. Consider improving them (making them a link, giving user ability to hide them), or removing them."
I wish we could magically exchange hits for godly spouses!
The meaningless Stats. Do we really need forum ranking and the silly thumbs up and down rating system. I know this software comes from worldly vendors, but really how edifying is it? Just wondering. I am an official junior boarder ya know, and I more than that I am the reigning SGS queen of hits. LOL I would gladly trade 7,200 hits for a Reformed hubby. ~L

We're aware of this and will see if upgrading the image gallery software solves the problem.
