Resistant at first for lack of understanding of the Doctrines of Grace, I've seen it take root in my life in the discovery of the Law/Gospel distinction. Understanding that I needed to hear the Gospel over and over again has really been an encouragement to me. Paul did the same thing in writing his epistles to the churches. What was also encouraging was seeing his reaction to the Galatian church and even to the point of confronting Peter for some of his errors. The Gospel is so important to the Reformation, that friendships are to be put to the side, if the Gospel is compromised, for the name of Him that came to save a wretched sinner like me. The fruit of it really began to show in seeing the Doctrines of Grace in their application in the presuppositional apologetical approach of Dr. Cornelius Van Til. The Van TIllian apologetic isn't just another form of apologetics, but rather a whole way of looking at the world. When I left the congregation that nearly shattered my faith, I lived in such despair of wondering whether the Bible was true or not. The more I immerse myself in this scriptural way of thinking, the more I look at college professors as puny men with no argumentation. As Paul says, God has made foolish the wisdom of the world. I hope to pass on to my children these teachings so that they will never have to endure the skeptics challenge with fear and trembling. |

I am currently reading and memorizing the entire book of Revelation. The reason for this being is that I plan to commit to a study in eschatology. I already have Postmillennial leanings but I'm open to hearing other views. However so far in the little that I've heard, the Postmillennial view seems to be the most plausible. The book of Revelation is comforting in that it's message of victory and vindication for the Church. Though we may not see this vindication in our lifetime, the Lord has promised the vindication of the blood of the martyrs. |

The Apostle Paul is by far the best outside of our Lord. Here is a man that stood up against opposition with fierce boldness. But it wasn't so much his boldness as it was his understanding that the wisdom of the world is made foolishness. It's made foolishness upon it's own merit and God made it that way. He faced a culture that was influenced by the greatest thinkers in the history of the world. What is impressive is that to have said that God made their wisdom foolish meant that he declared something in which he could back up. |

I like to say that I'm content but not complacent. God has shown me good reason for why I am still single. I've had to overcome many obstacles in my life in unlearning the ways in which I was brought up. Then I had to unlearn the false theology that I took for granted as being true. I'm currently enjoying the time by reading Van Tillian apologetics so that I may guard the hearts of my future wife and children that they may be blessed with a strong head of their home. In the mean time, as well, I'm attending school and have a passion for education. |

Most would say that I'm very easygoing in that it takes a lot to bother me, although I admit throwing fits over silly things at times. Also I have transparency that makes me stand out, although I'm somewhat reserved at times because I've been used by others. Submissive to my church elders and very teachable, yet I question things as well looking only to scripture as my final authority, or as Van Til says my final point in all human predication. Last my friends would say that I'm easy to get along with and I admit when I'm wrong. I despise gossip to the point where if I hear someone gossip, I shut down immediately. |

My deepest passion is to understand how the Christian worldview differs from the secular worldview. One of the problems I see in the church today is the her poor understanding of what it is they believe and why they believe it. This has lead to a near downfall into apostasy that was so severe, that I walked around every waking moment of my life disillusioned. It also left me vulnerable to all sorts of questions that the world infiltrated me with in which I had no answers. The only wise thing that I could think of doing was to do was to isolate myself from the questions of the world. God's elect should not be suffering in such a manner and should possess the tools to defend their faith in the midst of a hostile world. |

Would it be too spiritual to say that the three thing that I'm most thankful for are not things but persons? I'm thankful for the Heavenly Father for having predestined me unto eternal life when I had no earthly father to turn to to love me the way I needed to have him love me. The Son for going through the most gruesome death humanly imaginable in order that my sin may be imputed to him and paid for on the cross. And also having lived perfectly in my behalf that his perfect life would be imputed to me. And the Holy Spirit for drawing me to the Father when I of my own accord would never come to faith. |
|
I enjoy being around down to earth people that are not haughty or prideful. These character traits are what appeal to me the most. Some who are reserved near me open up in transparency when they have gotten to know me. I love those that are transparent that have an understanding of what it is to be straight forward from the get go. No pretentious attitudes, just what you see is what you get. I never have high expectations of others and never expect anyone to have high expectations of me. |
|
The most influential person in my life has to be my Pastor. He has shown compassion for me in understanding the difficulties in my upbringing and has along side of me been able to provide me the help I needed by standing in the gap for me as a true shepherd does. He has spoken on my behalf to get the deacons in my church to help me with all of the things I need to be equipped for combat against the temptations of the world. |
|
I can't say that I have had any formal relationships, but I have a dark past that I have overcome in Christ to be able to be the man that I need to be for His honor and glory. |

My favorite passage is: 2 Kings 19:29-31 29 ¶ "And this shall be the sign for you: this year eat what grows of itself, and in the second year what springs of the same. Then in the third year sow and reap and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit. 30 And the surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward. 31 For out of Jerusalem shall go a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the LORD will do this. It is a reminder to me that God is able to preserve to the very end. |

I previously worked in an apartment complex as a concierge before my employment was lost due to some decision (not based on my performance) that was made to hire staff for less money. This has opened a door of opportunity for me to pursue my degree in education. The things I have enjoyed about my previous employment was that the work consisted of communicating with residents in such a way that it has brought out my more outgoing side. It has taught me patience and kindness in the midst of chaotic turmoil. |

I hope to pursue a degree in education and involve myself in the education system in various directions that I can think of. First, my goal will be to obtain a degree to teach college level English. And two, to get a degree in apologetics at a Reformed Seminary, and hopefully even get a PhD. in philosophy that I may engage my culture just as the Apostle Paul did. If the latter part is not the Lord's will, I hope to bring up children in this world to challenge them to go further, than I hope to, in the defending the faith once for all delivered to the Saints. |
|
I love to fellowship with brothers in the Lord and learn greatly from them in word and in deed. To unwind I may enjoy some Karaoke bar where time can be spent getting to know friends that don't know the Lord that they may hear of his wonderful grace. I love walks in the park and doing some cardio workout in the process. I read Van Til as well as secular philosophy in order to get a grasp for his argumentation against the philosophies of the world. I enjoy the outdoors and being with friends that affirm within me a sense hope and great expectation about what lies ahead in my life. |

I have been out of state a few times and out of country twice. I've visited Pennsylvania and Florida. I have been to Toronto, Canada where at the time the streets were clean and perhaps still is. I'll never forget going into one of the malls with some friends at midnight, WOW, no security whatsoever, seemed like an ideal place to live. |
|
If relocating can be cost effective then I am always open to it. It would be nice to see new horizons. I may plan, as it is, Lord willing, to move to the Philadelphia area, where there is more of a Reformed community compared to where I'm currently living. |
