Best of all: singing, listening to music, visiting family and friends.

But most of the time: listening to lectures or recorded books, working on pianos. And it might sound odd but, eating is great, especially simple foods. And falling asleep and waking up 8 hours later is a great wonder and a great comfort.

Real rare treats: reading, and reading aloud. What a life!

Divorced
I don't smoke and I don't like to be around smokers
I rarely drink
High school
I would like to have children one day, AND/OR would gladly accept others.

My dad explained faith and salvation to me when I was six, May 25, 1981, and I prayed to become a Christian. I don’t think I understood much then, but I knew from then I was God’s man.

My relationship with God is still, as it began then, growing in commitment and understanding, much slower than it could be or should be, with some bursts of speed and, alas, some coasting.

I was taught these truths from childhood. That may be why, though I often doubt myself, I’ve never doubted or questioned God or His providence. Seems silly: why get angry at something you can’t change and which is always good?

Most mornings I read a few chapters of whatever book I’m on at the moment. I just finished the little prophets, for instance, and I’m going through Acts. Most of my Bible study is in the Psalms, because in my spare time I’m putting together a psalter. I also enjoy singing through hymnals and Psalters, and especially finding unfamiliar hymns.

I most admire Joseph and enjoy reading his story. His sins and temptations and sufferings are similar to mine (though much more extreme!). But he was steadfast, and the Lord was with him. So heavenly-minded he was the most earthly good.

Content, because it’s the lot God gave me for now, but not satisfied because He also gave me the desire for a companion.

Mostly nice ones, since they’re my friends. :-) But I’m told my most obvious qualities are: I’m musical, I’m steady and reliable, I have lots of friends, and I’m excessively analytical.

Truth. I want to know everything true, and I want to see how the truth changes people’s decisions, and how that changes culture and society. For instance, I get terribly excited about books like The Victory of Reason by Rodney Stark, about how Christianity led to freedom, capitalism and western success. Whoa.

I've always wanted to raise a family, and planned for countless hours how to have the best possible family life for the most godly and productive adults. I love to visit families who are doing it.

I love music, mostly classical and hymns, with some New Age and old folk music and lots of movie soundtracks on the side.

I’m also thrilled by unfamiliar hymn tunes. I love to record them and learn them by listening to the recordings. (They go on wordmp3.com.)

How about five things? A godly upbringing, many close friends including my family, a healthy church, good health and a good business.

I feel like I could write a book about any of them. Maybe I should.

Peacefulness above all. Cheerfulness and seriousness is also extremely attractive. Also, if someone is sensitive to other people’s feelings but not sensitive to their own, that’s pretty near perfection. Other than that, I'm not picky. :-)

As for me, I hate conflict and I love peace, order, knowledge, singing and laughing. The first “Hoodwinked” is my kind of humor.

Whoa, that’s tough. Everyone else combined hasn’t influenced me as much as my dad. But besides him, CS Lewis and Bill Gothard and Doug Wilson and Greg Bahnsen have most shaped the way I think: Christian Imagination, Effective Education, respect for the Old Testament as much as the New, God’s Word applied in a thousand things, and most of all Transcendental Presuppositionalism.

My friends Bud Wimer, Gary Martin and my brother Donald have been the best role models for living. (Again, besides my dad!)

She left me. We met in April ‘05, married in December of ‘06, and she left in December ‘07. We’ve had no contact at all since the divorce was signed, April 2008.

I did not take seriously everyone’s warnings that she didn’t respect me. I thought she would always do the right thing in the end.

I learned that following counsel is as important as asking for it. And a lot of other things, too, which I'm happy to talk about. But not here.

A great number, which constantly litter my Facebook page. (Not from movies and poems so much, but lots from books, lectures, hymns and Scripture.) I love succinct expressions of profound truths. Randomly:

And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going and they did not even have time to eat. -Mark 6:31

He who knows it best can explain it the simplest. -Charles Ryrie

Thy Jesus will repay, with His own fullness, all He takes away. -Katerina von Schlegel

Culture is religion made explicit by gradual and organic means. -Henry Van Til, Doug Wilson

Make plans, but trust in God. -Anon

Trust, but verify. -Ronald Reagan

Every Knee Shall Bow. Do it now and avoid the rush! -Anon

You, Who have shown me great and severe troubles, shall revive me again. -Psalm 71:20

The wheels of God grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine. -Anon

I’ve been tuning and repairing and moving and regulating and selling pianos since 1999. I love every bit of it, except making phone calls. :-) Now if only I had email addresses for all my customers...

I’ve always wanted to learn everything that was true. Since I was little I’ve wanted to raise children who were better than I was. Since my mid-twenties I’ve hoped to find a woman who I enjoyed more than anyone else, who would agree to marry me. I’m also driven to understand music and ethics well enough to evaluate every type of music.

My best idea of a good time with other people is a serious, humorous conversation about something important, where everyone’s a little changed when it’s over. By myself, my favorite recreation is multi-track recording unfamiliar hymn tunes. I also enjoy working on long emails to friends.

In a small town, A farm/cottage in the county, A cabin in the woods

Lancaster County, PA, has always been home, though at a dozen addresses. For years I drove 40,000+ miles a year to visit friends in other states, but recently my travels take me mostly to one sister in Virginia and one brother in New York. Flying is great, but driving is more practical.

My family is awesome. You'd love them. I’m right in the middle of four brothers and four sisters. All but two are following God. All but three live within an hour of me. My dad, twice widowed, lives in Lancaster city with his wife Sally whom he met on SGS, yay! We’re pretty different in many ways, but we all like each other and we all like to laugh. And we all have high metabolisms. :-)

My business is so firmly rooted here it would be foolish to move if I married.

Movies, Music, Music/Vocals, Musical Instruments, Philosophy, Reading, Shooting, Rifle

Singing most of all. But lots of listening to music, visiting friends, reading, listening to lectures, eating and resting.

Oh yes, many things. But a few stand out:

I was educated at home, and would educate my children at home.

I play piano well enough to impress those who can't play and frustrate those who can. :-)

This profile doesn't ask about doctrinal matters, but there is one worth mentioning even on a Reformed site. I am covenantal. I do believe very strongly that God's covenant with parents includes blessings on their children. I just don't believe it requires them to baptize their babies.

I try to eat healthful food; I'm not obsessed with it, but it makes an noticeable difference.

I have close friends among several quite different Christian communites, such as CREC, Baptist, Messianic and Mennonite.

I don't have internet access at home, so it may be a few days before I respond to messages.
