John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Do you have the ability to read Matt Henry ? He says tons about every thing. What i got from a very quick scan  was the 70 ad destruction  Quick scan of Matt Henry does not do justice   to his works...

The 70 AD destruction would make sense.  Sorry I was on my phone when I asked that and it would have been difficult to get to Matthew Henry at the time I posted.

I am no fan of the RCC . Read how the Scriptures define or describe antichrist  to me the RCC does not fit the description

Another point Jesus said .. Mat_24:15  When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Do you think Jesus was calling some part of the Vatican holy?  What do the mountains of Judea have to do with Italy?

No, I think there is going to be an abomination (probably a statue) set up by the Catholics in or around the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. That is my thought about it.

That could be.  Something simple.

How do your thoughts line up with what Jesus said?  For the record i believe the whole of Scripture to be the word of God I use the term Jesus said to indicate a quote of Him.

I am sorry, I posted an answer before I signed in. If you get an anon later that would be me. If this scripture is what you meant, I think my thoughts line up quite well.

Matt. 24:15 "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)"   :RpS_thumbsup:

I say yes. But for me there is some uncertainty in saying yes. I admit I have not does what I call serious study on the possibility of the temple being rebuilt.

It is a game dispensationalist often play.  I have already explain my thoughts on the matter.

You may call it whatever you like but that don't make it true.  You call it biblical.  I call it dispensational.  There are not even close to being the same thing.

It is what it is.

That is your opinion.  There is zero evidence that it is.

That type of thinking is were you make your error.   It is myopic.  It is not an either or proposition and consequently such thinking fails to understand apocalyptic writings within its literary context.

Don't you know numbers are used symbolically especially in apocalyptic literature?  That is simply a fact.

Nevertheless you claimed "we are talking to people who say there is no Millennium despite it being in Scripture."  That is patently false.  The fact that others have a different understand of the millennium (what it is and means) is does not even come close to suggesting that there is no millennium.  Your claim was a misrepresentation of the amillennialist view.  It is as simple as that.

Oh, the good ol' days.

What temple?  This one?

Joh 2:19  Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Joh 2:20  Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
Joh 2:21  But he spake of the temple of his body.

The question around a temple being built prior to Messiah's return seems to center around the scriptures:

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

What if he were sitting in the building that is there now, where the temple stood? Was Paul referring to these scriptures when he said this?:

And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
 (Dan 11:45, KJV)

For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
 (Isa 14:13, KJV)

Since the temple was destroyed, it must be rebuilt.

However, Prophecy says Mashiach will build the temple:

And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
 (Zech 6:12-13, KJV)

This can only take place After he returns.

The 2 witnesses are told:

Rise and measure the temple of God.

I believe this is symbolic of judging the people of The Most High. All those who profess faith in Yeshua (Jesus), will be hearing a message meant for them.

The courtyard that is outside the temple. Is this the Western Wall complex, known as the Kotel, wailing wall?

There is only one place on earth Jews go to pray to the Father. This wall used to support the 2nd temple.

If this court, or courtyard, is given unto the gentiles, (SEARCH: Israel 1949 armistice border line) I strongly believe this could be the reference for the beginning of the 2 witnesses testimony and the counting down of days to the return of Messiah:

Court:
G833 αὐλή aule (av-lee') n.
1. a yard (as open to the wind).
2. (by implication) a mansion.
[from aemi “to breathe unconsciously,” i.e. respire: (by analogy), to blow]
KJV: court, (sheep-)fold, hall, palace
See also: G822, G109

And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
 (Rev 11:1-2, KJV)

If this is the case, will you be ready to accept that, and UNDERSTAND that the timing clock for the return of Yeshua has begun?

If you are interested in understanding this point of view, please check out my website dedicated to waiting, watching, praying and discussing the 2 witnesses of revelation. 2witnesseswatch.com

I pray a blessing on all those seeking to be ready for Messiah at His coming!

Peace!

Joh 2:18  Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
Joh 2:19  Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Joh 2:20  Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
Joh 2:21  But he spake of the temple of his body.
Joh 2:22  When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

I believe this temple is the Vatican, claiming it is a temple of God. The "son of perdition" being the Pope. He calls himself "in place of Christ" and claims infallibility like he is God Himself. Let us not overthink things.

More than likely, with some help from the Zionist American government that run around sticking there nose in unwanted business. But I'm more concerned with what people will be doing in the temple once built.

Sacrificing animals & other abominations in it no doubt.

It's a very dark complex for sure. But, it's going to have to be in Jerusalem for a few reasons, one being:
And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
 (Dan 11:45, KJV)
The other is the dividing of Jerusalem...
Zech141
Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
 (Zech 14:1-2, KJV)

Now, if that happens, where is the location of this line that will divide Jerusalem, and will it give the Kotel (western wailing wall complex) to the gentiles (Palestinian's)? If they use the 1949 armistice line it will give the Kotel to the gentiles. Please check out my website for information about what The Most High has shown me regarding the timing of the 2 witnesses arrival and the tribulation timing. 2witnesseswatch.com
