John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Matthew! That is the best encouragement and advice. Thank you! I’ll wait on God. Sometimes, I want to hasten his plans but I’ll remember your post here. Really what I needed to read.

I'm glad to help. You rightly say that hastening God's plans and purposes can lead to nullification of our prayers . Waiting is always the difficult part of handing over our cares and burdens to Him. He has an appointed time and due season for all things. He is God and as I read in Job 40-41 He gives a perfect description of His divine attributes . Omnipotent, Omniscience, Omnipresence and Immutability .  God bless and keep you .   M
