John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Please be patient as much work is currently being tasked. Throughout the next few days various areas of the site are under construction.

Here are some things you may do in the meantime:

  1. Upload Profile picture.
  2. Finish your Profile information.
  3. Ck out FAQs section: https://www.sovereigngracesingles.com/frequently-asked-questions/
  4. Read General terms and features article in FAQs

At the moment of writing this we are migrating our domain to sovereigngracesingles.com. Please expect momentary outages today as necessary changes are made.

That's good to know.  I thought it would be fully accomplished by the time this new site came up.  I certainly hope the "Favorites" will be converted over eventually.  I cannot find my many "favorites" at all (that is, there's no "favorites" button that I can find).

Is our profile info going to be transferred over? The e-mails stated that it would be, but my profile questions are all blank now.

Our migration specialist has been informed of the issue. Could be a few days before a response or remedy. The email should of also of stated that members backup their profile data. Unfortunately, the migration had a few issues. We greatly apologize for the inconvenience.

I won't use the site until all the "favorites" that I laboriously compiled are added to this new site.  Of course that means there should be a button to allow us to see who our favorites are.

I can't see the reply to my earlier question.  But I did get an email saying "Favorites on the old SGS are not migrated here.  Favorites are now replaced with "Follow".  To follow, go to the member's profile and select the Follow option.  Note, the member has the option of not allowing others to follow them.  Basic notifications should be given you which far succeed the old Favorites.  For example, now when someone you follow here becomes active, posts, uploads pictures etc followers receive a notification".

Well, that is absolutely repulsive.  In anticipation of the migration, I spent HOURS AND HOURS searching the whole database, marking as "favorites" (and friending a few) as those I'd like to look up after the migration.  But you've just destroyed my favorites list and without so much as a warning.  Yes, I backed up most of my profile data, but I had no anticipation you'd fail to bring over favorites!  No warning whatsoever.  If you emailed us all about this, I failed to notice.  You say, "to follow, go to the member's profile..."  But the old Favorites was the only way, in the system, to mark out who I want to follow!  Every time I try to get started in this site, you destroy my data!  Whether it was dozens of boxes I filled out and you lost when I tried to save it (in the past), or now when I laboriously picked dozens of favorites BEFORE the migrate and you intentionally destroy them without adequate warning.

So now I have to spend those same hours searching and making my decisions AGAIN.  But there are hardly any PROFILE pictures on anyone!  You may as well have told us all that "we're not going to migrate any data--you have to start all over".  I used to be a programmer and did a lot of data conversions, say, from an old software version to a new, or from a different system.  YES, many times the data won't convert due to dissimilar data items.  But most everything here SHOULD convert over, at LEAST profile pics.  And for favorites, you COULD have made me a follower of each of those I had favorited (your new permission rule not withstanding).  You have so far made this a very very unpleasant experience, spanning months of occasional attempts and frustrations.  You may be a calvinist as I am, but your values in data migration do not impress me.  I hate to be so negative about something that could be so positive (and may already have been for some), but this experience is somewhat of a turn-off.  (I will probably get over this in time, join up again, maybe even become a paying member.)

Also, there is no "Following" button that will let me see who I am following (or that I'm not following anyone).  So how am I supposed to review a list of all who I am following??????

Yes, I wake up every morning thinking how can I destroy TCMullet's data.

In the account menu members may track who and what they follow:

Quit trying to insult and stick with whining. You're far more impressive at whining.

I apologize your bookmarks weren't migrated [why anyone backs up data onto the very site being migrated away from is beyond me]. We do not offer bookmarks but a follow system [though you could probably bookmark in your browser] which offers much more than bookmarking another member.

Paid for subscriptions are now the only way for personal member engagement on SGS. The old site was very poor in that it allowed people to solicit and basically steal from SGS. Now the only non paying member engagement is in the public forums while under moderation.

The outcome of this change has been entirely negative for me thus far. When you respond to that kind of feedback with condescension and then stating how it's a positive for you, I think you've maybe you've lost sight of what matters. If no one wants to use your service anymore, it matters little how effectively you prevented "theft" by those who may well have never paid you anyway.

A positive feedback on the mitigation, I believe is the privacy of memebers. Before it was possible to search for members while one was guest. Now this is only possible if one is already a member. That is a great advantage and made me to become a member.

One tip would be that it would not be possible for guests to see the "Last Registered Members" or "Activity Stream". This would improve the privacy even more.

Great job!

Thank you for the positive criticism and site suggestion. Escalating your tip for consideration to the person which makes these decisions.

You're welcome. It is indeed meant for improvement of the website.

Further, I know that migrating a website or other systems takes much time, effort and headaches. Therefore, positive feedback might be given as well.

Will you be offering an extension for those of us who are paying members? I have less than two weeks left on my subscription and the site is almost unusable since no one has their profile data, pictures, and searching so much, much harder. 😞

That's the plan by the owner. I realize that people want to be compensated for this inconvenience and many haven't bothered backing up their data [though we asked people do so nearly a month ahead of time as a cautionary measure]. All the data from the old site is actually still intact we just need to figure out why the data which was to be migrated wasn't brought over. If you haven't bothered reading the posts before yours the migration specialist is looking into the issue of why some and not all profile data was migrated. We are expecting an answer and solution by tomorrow.

Regarding searching what is "so much much harder"?

I never saw the notice that the site was being worked on, perhaps because I only log in from the mobile site? I don’t know. I would definitely have backed up everything had I known.

Regarding the searching comment, almost every profile I have click on has the person’s denomination listed as “Anglican” including my own (which I am most definitely not) making it nearly impossible to determine who is of the same denomination. So I know denominations did not migrate properly. Most profiles are empty when it comes to essay questions which makes looking rather futile.

I understand the migration is somewhat out of your hands, I just thought it might be courteous to paying members to compensate the time lost.

We just received word that the Migration Specialist has completed his tasks in bringing over profile information [essay answers] from the old site. If you hadn't filled out a profile field in the old site of course nothing would be brought over. If you did the information should now be brought over.

May I ask if not an inconvenience for a few members just to verify? Let me know either way.

Note: we are also told that pictures are not able to be migrated from the old site to the new site. Unfortunately we have to ask members to re-upload their pictures. If you haven't a clue or need help on how to upload pictures and where please read our FAQs. I recommend everyone that is an SGS subscriber take advantage of the ability to create your own Photo Albums [not available to free members]:

https://www.sovereigngracesingles.com/frequently-asked-questions/

And here's a direct link on how to create your own photo album:
